Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim insists it is a "good thing" for Alejandro Garnacho to be disappointed that he was dropped.

Garnacho was the last United player to enter the premises at Goodison Park on Saturday and trudged into the ground after he was named on the bench at the expense of Manuel Ugarte.

That was the only change from United's 1-0 defeat at Tottenham six days earlier and Garnacho was serenaded by the United supporters when he was introduced by Amorim in the 62nd minute at Goodison. Bruno Fernandes scored in the 72nd minute before Ugarte equalised in the 80th minute.

Garnacho is United's highest-scoring available forward with Amad sidelined for the remainder of the season but he has started three of the last five games on the bench.

"There are some games that are different and we want different things in the same positions," Amorim explained. "Garnacho will be ready for the next game and it's a good thing to be disappointed.

"But, like I said, we have a lot of games. In modern football, you don’t have a starting XI, it’s really hard, especially now. We have a squad that we have to rotate.

"And then I imagine the game and then I imagine the characteristics of the players to try to win the game and today the game, I think in a different way to have Garnacho on the bench to change something."

United avoided defeat in their 107th and final match at Goodison Park before Everton move into their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock in the summer.

Amorim was full of admiration for the ground and Evertonians. "I think it’s amazing, the fans of Everton are amazing. They are in a good moment. It’s well deserved that David Moyes is the coach to start in the next stadium, it’s really good.

"But for me, in this moment, every stadium is really difficult, especially ours with our fans supporting all the time! My goal is to just win the next game and to give some happiness to our fans because they deserve it a lot."
