Manchester United are reportedly plotting a move for Atalanta striker El Bilal Toure - but whether that happens before Monday night's 11pm deadline or in the next few months, remains to be seen.

The Reds have been on the lookout to sign a new attacker given this season's struggles by Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in front of goal. The pair have five goals combined in the Premier League with Amad and Bruno Fernandes among the top goal scorers this term.

Now French outlet Foot Mercato claims that United have made an enquiry about the 23-year-old who is currently on loan at VfB Stuttgart after struggling for regular game time in Serie A. However, a winter move is said to be complicated with Toure currently out injured and Stuttgart wanting to keep him until the end of the season.

As per the report, Stuttgart are also 'threatening' to trigger the purchase option of €18million (£15m) before potentially selling him to United for a reported €25m (£21m) 'excluding add-ons.'

Elsewhere, Tyrell Malacia's loan move to Benfica has collapsed. That's according to Fabrizio Romano who says the two parties couldn't come to an agreement on loan fee and future buy option.

Malacia is thought to have been keen on a move and even said goodbyes to his teammates at Carrington. But now, with only a day left of the transfer window, United are said to be looking at other options for Malacia and there are 'several loan requests,' as per Romano.

With the imminent arrival of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, the Dutch left-back will fall further down the pecking order. United are keen to find a solution before Monday's 11pm deadline but are running out of time.
