Manchester United flop signed for £7.4m joins 13th club - 15 years since Sir Alex Ferguson deal
Ex-Manchester United forward Bebe has made a surprise move to Spanish third-tier side UD Ibiza.
The 34-year-old started off his career with Estrela da Amadora before making the switch to Vitoria de Guimaraes in July 2010. However, just five weeks after joining Vitoria, United agreed an undisclosed fee with the Portuguese club to sign Bebe, with the fee reported to be in the region of £7.4million.
Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to bring Bebe to Old Trafford, after former assistant Carlos Queiroz recommended him. While there was significant hype surrounding Bebe, he struggled during his time in Manchester. Across four years, he made just seven first-team appearances and spent most of his time out on loan.

He enjoyed time out at Besitkas, Rio Ave and Pacos de Ferreira before ending his four-year spell at United in July 2014, having scored only two goals for the club. He joined Benfica on a permanent deal for £2.5million, but he yet again failed to impress and was sent on loan to Spanish club Cordoba in January 2015.
That felt like a theme at the start of Bebe's career. The forward was shipped out on loan to La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano for the 2015/2016 season, and while he netted just three times 37 matches for the relegated team, it helped him secure a permanent move to Eibar at the end of the campaign.
Bebe returned to Vallecano on loan in 2017/2018, as he helped them win promotion back to the Spanish top-tier, scoring three goals in 17 Segunda Division appearances. He signed for Vallecano in summer 2018 and he ended up spending five years there, finding the net 18 times 133 matches.
While a loan spell at Real Zaragoza was sandwiched in there, as well as a lengthy spell out with a serious knee injury, Bebe's third stint at Vallecano can be considered as a success. It was the longest he had spent at a single club during his professional career, having left last August after his contract was terminated.
It didn't take long for Bebe to find another suitor following his move to Spanish second division side Racing de Ferrol. But Bebe would spent less than six months there before he departed on Saturday, February 1.
Now, the Cape Verde international has signed for his 13th club. He has penned a contract with Ibiza - a team that sit fourth in the Primera Federacion - the third-tier of Spanish football.
Bebe made his debut for the Balearic Islands side from the start during their 5-3 home win against Antequera over the weekend and are eyeing up promotion back to the Segunda Division. He could make his maiden away appearance when Ibiza travel to Real Betis II on Saturday, February 15.
Speaking after his first game for Ibiza, Bebe said: "I am happy both on a personal and collective level. I want to ask the fans to continue helping us because we are going to give them a lot of joy."
