Manchester United have been given the transfer green light to sign a player that would solve a problem position for manager Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese boss has introduced a 3-4-3 system since taking over at United in November and finding a natural left-wing-back who can consistently start in the role has proven to be difficult.

Luke Shaw has suffered a fresh injury setback after returning to action last month following a nine-month absence, while Tyrell Malacia is on a minutes restriction after returning to action following a spell on the sidelines that ruled him out of action for over a year.

As such, many United fans feel they need to strengthen in that position and one name that has been mentioned as a potential transfer option is Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson.

The USA international has excelled under Marco Silva and has emerged as one of the Premier League's finest left-backs this season. as As a result, he has been linked with a move to United, as well as Liverpool and Man City, in the January transfer window.

And the 27-year-old has added fuel to that fire by admitting he would leave Craven Cottage if a club pays the Cottagers' asking price

"I'm very happy here," Robinson told Marca, during an interview with the Spanish publication.

"The fact that there is interest from other teams is great. Obviously, it all comes down to whether someone wants me enough to pay what Fulham would ask. So, if the club sees it as a good idea, I would leave."

The former Everton academy graduate enjoyed a spell with Wigan Athletic and had a failed transfer to AC Milan before joining Fulham in 2020. He is said to be rated at about £40million by the West London side.
