Manchester United-linked Jonathan David is reportedly in advanced talks to join Barcelona in the summer.

After missing out on the loan signing of Mathys Tel to Tottenham on deadline day, United will continue to play with just four recognised attackers for the remainder of the season. United boss Ruben Amorim admitted the club 'tried everything' to strengthen their attack before the window closed earlier this week.

In addition to United, David has several admirers in the Premier League as his contract is set to expire in the summer. Now TBR Football are reporting that the Canada international is already in 'advanced talks' to join Barca on a free transfer once the season concludes.

He is said to have received pre-contract offers from 'several' teams, including 'multiple' from the Premier League. It's reported that United join Aston Villa, Chelsea, Tottenham, West Ham, Newcastle United, Inter Milan and Juventus in the chase for his signature.

However, it appears that it is Barca are close to sealing a deal. David has made no secret of his dream to play for Barcelona and expressed his desire to move to the Nou Camp last year.

"[Barcelona] was always the team I grew up supporting. When you grow up supporting a team, it's a dream to play for them," he told The Athletic.

David has been consistent in Ligue 1 since joining the club in 2020 - netting 104 times in 217 appearances to date. With a move for the 25-year-old seemingly off the cards for United, Viktor Gyokeres, who has an £83million release clause to his name, remains an option. Sporting Clube de Portugal are apparently set to lower their asking price in the summer.

Reports claim Gyokeres could be available for £60m as part of a gentleman's agreement with Sporting. Besides Gyokeres, Matheus Cunha has also been heavily linked with the Reds, despite penning a new long-term deal with Wolves.
