Manchester United are just two games away from being in a tricky situation in the Premier League.

United are currently preparing for their fourth-round FA Cup tie against Leicester City on Friday night. After that, Ruben Amorim's men will return to Premier League action when they take on Tottenham Hotspur on February 16.

Amorim has endured a difficult start to life as United head coach in the Premier League. The Reds have lost two of their last three matches and are in 13th position in the top-flight standings, but have enjoyed success in the Europa League with a third-place finish in the league phase being cemented.

United will hope to climb the Premier League table in the weeks ahead and close the gap on the European places. However, that task may become more difficult if a potential nightmare situation transpires for Amorim.

Manuel Ugarte currently has eight yellow cards to his name in the Premier League, and is just two bookings away from a suspension. Two more cautions for the Uruguay international would see Ugarte handed a two-game ban in the top-flight.

Ugarte has been a regular figure in the United midfield ever since Amorim was named as the club's head coach in November. Should the 23-year-old be handed a two-game suspension between now and the end of the season, it would give Amorim something to think about in terms of team selection.

Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes are there alongside Ugarte in being first-choice midfield options for United. One player who hasn't had much game-time is Casemiro, who was heavily linked with a transfer away during the January window before it slammed shut on Monday night.

A switch to the Saudi Pro League was mooted on the rumour mill for Casemiro, with the midfielder making just seven appearances for United since Amorim's arrival back in November. Now that the transfer window is closed, Amorim may have a decision on whether or not to start Casemiro in the Premier League in the event that Ugarte gets suspended, or at least give him more minutes in preparation for that scenario.
