Manchester United could be set for a busy January transfer window if the latest reports are to be believed.

United have until February 3 to complete their transfer business, and it remains to be seen if any new signings will make a move to Old Trafford. A host of names have already been credited as possible targets for United, but whether there is any basis of truth to that speculation is unclear.

Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres, Paris Saint-Germain's Randal Kolo Muani and Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez are just some of the names to be linked with a move to United this month. There have also been rumours about the futures of Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo, Antony, Joshua Zirkzee and Casemiro, who have all been linked with moves away from United.

Here, MEN Sport takes a look at some of the latest United transfer news and rumours that have generated headlines over the last 24 hours.

United have been dealt a blow in their rumoured quest to sign Wolves star Matheus Cunha. The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian in recent weeks, with Arsenal and Liverpool also mentioned on the rumour mill.

However, according to David Ornstein for The Athletic, Cunha is close to agreeing a new contract with Wolves. Ornstein told NBC Sports that Cunha is on the verge of signing a four-and-a-half-year deal to extend his stay at Molineux.

The report goes on to say that Wolves will not insert a release clause into the new contract in the event they are relegated from the Premier League. Cunha has scored 10 goals for Wolves this season in the top flight and is among the top scorers in the race for the Golden Boot.

Elsewhere, United will reportedly face competition for the signing of Christian Ordonez. The Reds have been credited with an interest in signing the 20-year-old midfielder, who plays for Velez Sarsfield in Argentina.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, United will battle Premier League rivals Brentford and Serie A club Bologna for Ordonez's signature. The report claims that Bologna have now entered the race to sign the versatile midfielder.

Ordonez is reported to have a €10million (£8.3million) release clause in his contract at Velez Sarsfield. Despite the links to United, it has been suggested that a move to Bologna is the most likely option at this point.
