Manchester United have been handed an update regarding the future of Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez.

United have been heavily linked with a move to sign the 21-year-old left-back in recent months. The appointment of Ruben Amorim as the club's new head coach has only intensified the rumours that United may want to add new signings to their squad during the January transfer window.

The Manchester Evening News reported last month that United do not have a budget to sign any new players during the current transfer window. The only way United will go into the market is if the club raises funds via player sales before the February 3 deadline.

Kerkez is one of the names mentioned on the rumour mill as the club gets linked to signing a new left-back. Now an update has emerged on Kerkez's future that is likely to affect United.

According to the i Paper, Bournemouth view Kerkez as one of the most wanted players in the Premier League on the transfer market this month. The report claims that, despite being wanted by several top flight clubs, the Cherries believe that Kerkez will not be leaving the Vitality Stadium before the transfer window closes.

Liverpool are mentioned in the report as showing an interest in signing Kerkez, despite the stance from the South Coast club. It remains to be seen how strong United's interest in Kerkez is, with previous reports speculating that Bournemouth value the defender at around £40million.

United currently have Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia as their recognised left-back options. Diogo Dalot has been performing in the role in Amorim's wing-back system, and did so under previous manager Erik ten Hag.
