Manchester United will be hoping to bring their three-game losing streak to an end when they welcome Newcastle United to Old Trafford on Monday evening.

United served up a limp performance against Wolves on Boxing Day, falling to a 2-0 defeat at Molineux, marking a third defeat in the space of just eight days.

As a result, United will head into the clash with the Magpies in M16 closer to the bottom three than they will the top four. It means a little bit of pressure is already being weighted onto the shoulders of head coach Ruben Amorim.

Ahead of the clash with the Magpies, Amorim will have to make do without suspended duo Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes, meaning at least two changes to the starting XI are guaranteed. Below, our United writers have had their say on how they would like to see Amorim set his team up.

Samuel Luckhurst:

The team yours truly has picked gives the impression I am seeking the sack. United are back in Argo mode: there are only bad ideas and this is the best bad idea one has.

Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez were the only okay performers against Wolves. Matthijs de Ligt has become important by virtue of not participating in three defeats and United need to try and match Newcastle's physicality.

Casemiro is not an ideal alternative to Ugarte but he is committed. Christian Eriksen is an actual No.10 in a squad lacking them.

Rasmus Hojlund nor Joshua Zirkzee are good enough to lead the line for United and it has got to the point where it is worth experimenting with Amad there for maybe one-night only.

Tyrone Marshall:

Suspensions are causing more problems for Amorim against Newcastle and finding a team to put together is proving difficult. Defensively, things are a little easier, and I would bring De Ligt back in and give Yoro and Mazraoui a rest.

That means a return to right wing-back for Amad, with United in need of some better attacking intent from those positions. Dalot can play on the left, while Casemiro has to replace the suspended Ugarte.

With Fernandes suspended and Amad moving position, it's time to play Zirkzee with Hojlund. Zirkzee can play as a No. 10, along with Garnacho, and Hojlund leads the line.

George Smith:

If he is well enough to start, De Ligt should be recalled to the XI to add some experience and leadership, with Yoro making way. His load still needs to be managed carefully and he could add to the 63 minutes he earned against Wolves via the bench.

Amad should be restored to the right-wing back role, replacing Mazraoui. Ugarte's suspension means Casemiro should replace him as United's midfield linchpin. Mainoo was well off the pace, meaning Eriksen might be a logical replacement to freshen things up.

Zirkzee is more comfortable linking the play, meaning he should be considered as one of the two starting No.10s in Fernandes' absence. Garnacho is worthy of a recall after coming off the bench in each of the last three games. Hojlund should lead the attack.
