Barcelona will reportedly not lose Dani Olmo to a Premier League club during the winter transfer window despite ongoing uncertainty about his future.

Olmo, 26, intends to stay at the Catalan club despite the possibility that they will not be able to register their summer signing to play for them in 2025. Barcelona have lost two court appeals to make the attacking midfielder available for selection for the rest of this season.

New Year's Eve is the deadline to re-register Olmo, as his current eligibility expires at the end of this year. La Liga only allowed Barcelona to register the player four months earlier in the campaign because of long-term injuries within the team's first-team squad.

After the two appeals they filed failed, the Catalan radio network RAC 1 now reports the club is confident they will be able to register Olmo in time after raising around £ 80million (€100m) from selling VIP boxes at the newly refurbished—but still unopened—Camp Nou. La Liga's approval of the additional revenue stream should see Barcelona's salary limit rise enough to include Olmo in their squad.

The player's agent, Andy Bara, also released a statement to GiveMeSport around the same time those reports emerged. "I can announce that the decision made by Dani is to stay at Barcelona," Bara said.

"We are not considering any other option or club. Dani Olmo wants to play for Barca, and his desire is very clear."

Those comments came days after Bara travelled to Manchester and was due to attend Manchester City's match on Boxing Day against Everton at the Etihad Stadium. "Yes, it is correct. I am in Manchester. I am here on holiday," he told the Daily Mail.

Romano reports that City have been interested in Olmo since the summer of 2023. Sections of United's board are also reputedly well-informed about the situation.
