Manchester United player ratings vs Arsenal with two 8/10s as Bruno Fernandes good
Manchester United drew 1-1 with Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.
A dull first half ended with a flourish as Bruno Fernandes scored a superb free-kick to put United 1-0 up.
Noussair Mazraoui had a brilliant chance to put United 2-0 up early in the second half but David Raya pulled off an excellent save to stop United doubling their lead.
Arsenal equalised with 16 minutes left to play through a fine strike from Declan Rice as the game ended 1-1.
Here are how the players rated at Old Trafford:
Andre Onana
His kicking was often awry and he bowed to peer pressure from the crowd, unhappy with his recent slow restarts. Tipped a Martin Odegaard shot over. Got away with one in added time. 6
Victor Lindelof
Looked typically shaky on his first Premier League start since March 30 last year. His positioning in the middle of the back three was questionable and contributed to United dropping so deep so often. 5
Matthijs de Ligt
Involved in an early mix-up with Casemiro that came to nought. Made some full-blooded challenges in a largely solid performance. 6
Leny Yoro
Sustained an injury early on and then hurt himself towards the end of the half. Had to come off at half-time for Ayden Heaven. 6
Noussair Mazraoui
Present in United's rare first-half attacks and collaborated enterprisingly with Alejandro Garnacho at times and so close to making it 2-0. 8
Casemiro
Tackled two teammates in two halves and was bypassed often but had the engine to see out the game against an imposing Arsenal midfield. 6
Bruno Fernandes
Was misusing the ball at times before he used it impeccably to put United 1-0 up. Lifted the crowd and shot close to David Raya. 8
Diogo Dalot
Berated by the crowd twice in the first half for risk-aversive backward passes but later crossed perfectly for Mazraoui's chance. Offered little else. 5
Christian Eriksen
The only player seemingly capable of keeping the ball seldom did in the first half. Put in a decent shift but did little with the ball. 5
Alejandro Garnacho
Quickened the play when he got on the ball and has adapted well to playing on the right of the two 10s. Used the ball prudently. 7
Joshua Zirkzee
Too intent on buying phantom fouls when United struggled to keep the ball. Had a really good chance to make it 2-0 but too casual flicking the ball. 5
Subs
Ayden Heaven
Came on at the pause for his league debut against his former club. Did okay in the circumstances. 7
Toby Collyer
Introduced with 15 minutes to play. 6
Rasmus Hojlund
Showed why he has gone 20 games without a goal by failing to shoot quickly enough. Thwarted by Gabriel for his second chance. 5
Manager
Opted for a predictable team again and finally dropped Rasmus Hojlund. United vastly improved in the second half and had the best chances. Could have made a change sooner. 6
