Manchester United prospect Ethan Williams set for loan move to Cheltenham Town
Cheltenham Town are set to sign winger Ethan Williams on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old is highly regarded as his parent club, helping the Red Devils' Under-18s win a treble last term, scoring 17 goals and providing nine assists.
He has continued his fine form during the first half of this season, sparking interest from League One clubs including Stockport County and Leyton Orient, but United have opted to send him to League Two Cheltenham.
He moved to United from Rochdale in November 2019 and signed his first professional contract in July last year.
Williams will become the Robins' fifth signing of the January window and goes straight into the squad to face Harrogate Town away on Friday evening.
Cheltenham completed the loan signing of attacking midfielder Tommy Backwell from Bristol City on Thursday afternoon, with forward Ashley Hay, right-back Darragh Power and left-back Val Adedokun arriving earlier this month.
Michael Flynn's squad is now up five loans, which is the maximum permitted in a match day squad.
