What Manchester United need to do to reach Europa League last-16 after Rangers win
Manchester United have one foot in the last-16 of the Europa League after Thursday night's dramatic 2-1 win over Rangers at Old Trafford.
Bruno Fernandes netted a 92nd-minute winner for the Reds after substitute Cyriel Dessers looked to have earned the visitors a point with a well-taken finish two minutes from time. United had earlier taken the lead via a Jack Butland own-goal.
Fernandes' late heroics secured a fourth successive Europa League win for United, lifting them up to fourth in the league phase table. They have won four and drawn three of their first seven matches.

The top eight automatically qualify for the last-16 of the competition, while those who finish between ninth and 24th will contest next month's play-off round. The sides that finish 25th and below will exit the competition.
With just one round of fixtures remaining, United sit fourth on 15 points, two clear of ninth-placed Galatasaray. Ruben Amorim's team will conclude their league phase schedule in Romania next Thursday night when they face FCSB.
The Romanian outfit are currently eighth in the standings, meaning they will also be hoping to tie up an automatic qualification spot on matchday eight. They twice came from behind to beat Qarabag FK 3-2 on Thursday evening.
United's task ahead of their trip to Romania is clear: win and they are guaranteed a place in the last-16, avoiding the two-legged play-off tie Amorim wants to avoid at all costs amid his hunger for time on the training ground. A victory may be enough for them to finish as high as second, depending on results elsewhere.
A draw may also be enough to take them through. Should next week's clash in Bucharest finish level, United will finish the league phase on 16 points.
That would leave both Galatasaray and Bodo/Glimt having to beat Ajax and Nice respectively in an attempt to finish above United on goal difference. United's current goal difference stands at +5, whereas Galatasaray's stands at +4 and Bodo/Glimt's +3.
Furthermore, United would also have to see the results of the teams currently sitting beneath them in the top eight go against them, making it unlikely they will miss out on automatic qualification if they avoid defeat.
Even if United are beaten by FCSB, they will still need a string of results to go against them, with the Reds one point better off than the teams that currently sit between fifth and eighth.
