Manchester United will be in the transfer market when the January window opens in the new year. Following Ruben Amorim's appointment, the Premier League giants could be looking at a busy winter month.

Amid the busy Christmas period which lies ahead in England, United will be putting in the hard yards behind-the-scenes ahead of the window opening. Apparent issues in the squad need addressing and by the time the window does re-open, Amorim will have a strong understanding of what needs to be done.

The new United boss has enjoyed a decent start to life at Old Trafford but signings will become the priority in January. So with that in mind, MEN Sport has taken a look at two latest rumours that could present an exciting opportunity.

PSG manager pulls out of Gyokeres transfer race

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has told the French club he isn't interested in signing United 'target' Viktor Gyokeres.

According to Foot Mercato, Enrique has told chief Luis Campos that if Gyokeres was to sign, he would play very little. Despite failing to get the best out of Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos, the report states that Enrique isn't interested in the Sweden international.

Campos is understood to have met with Gyokeres' entourage and completed necessary groundwork to lay the foundation for a potential deal. Now, with PSG reportedly out of the race, United have less competition - on the proviso they do make a move.

MEN Sport says: "If this is true and PSG are truly not interested in signing Gyokeres, then it's more or less a free pass for United. PSG are one of the teams you'd expect to be competing for the striker's signature - and with the financial benefits they can offer they often come out on top.

"Joao Neves moved to Paris from Benfica after also being on United's radar, Kolo Muani too. However, Enrique's preference could leave Amorim with the perfect chance to swoop for him."

Player wants January move as replacement targeted

United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is reportedly growing dissatisfied with his lack of opportunities and could look to force a move away from Old Trafford in January.

The Daily Mail have reported the Turkey international may look for a new opportunity and despite United not being keen on selling him mid-season, Sunderland's Anthony Patterson is being eyed as a replacement.

Patterson, 24, came through the youth academy at the Stadium of Light and has been linked with a move away for some time.

MEN Sport says: "United are unlikely to allow Bayindir to depart in January. He's been number two behind Andre Onana since he joined so news that he isn't happy with his game time is quite strange. However, Patterson is one of the best goalkeepers in England, outside the Premier League. His displays at Sunderland have been decent but he's not expected to want to be second choice. So, in United's case, their best option for them would be to keep Bayindir and reassess the situation next summer summer."
