Manchester United youngster Jack Kingdon has joined non-league side Rochdale on loan.

The 19-year-old, who signed his first professional contract at Old Trafford last July, has joined the National League outfit for the rest of the season and will assist them in their quest for promotion back to the Football League.

Rochdale currently sit eighth in the National League table, two points shy of the play-off places, and have four games in hand on Solihull Moors, who currently occupy the final play-off berth.

Kingdon's temporary switch to the nearby Crown Oil Arena marks his first loan spell of his career. He joined United from Morecambe's academy back in 2020.

The defender has been involved in first-team training at Carrington in the past, including in the build up to Ruben Amorim's first game in charge of United against Ipswich Town in November. He is yet to be included in a first-team matchday squad at Old Trafford.

The centre-back has been a regular fixture for United's Under-21s this season, playing eight times in the Premier League 2. He also made two appearances in the EFL Trophy, starting United's clashes with Doncaster Rovers and Huddersfield Town.

Kingdon, who was one of three players United sent to Sir Jim Ratcliffe-owned FC Lausanne-Sport to experience training in a first-team environment back in October, starred for United's Under-18s last season, helping them clinch a famous treble. He also sported the captain's armband on a couple of occasions.

Kingdon was first given the opportunity to train with United's first-team in April last year ahead of their 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. United were light on centre-backs at the time and Kingdon was invited to step up despite not being included in the matchday squad.
