Manchester United stars send message to injured Lisandro Martinez before Leicester FA Cup clash
Manchester United players showed their support for the injured Lisandro Martinez before Friday night’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Leicester City.
Martinez was stretchered off during Sunday’s 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace with the club confirming the extend of the serious knee issue as the Argentine has suffered an injury to his cruciate ligament.
"Manchester United can confirm that Lisandro Martinez suffered an injury to his cruciate ligament in Sunday’s game against Crystal Palace," Man Utd said in a statement on Thursday.
"Assessment of the injury is ongoing to determine the appropriate course of treatment and the timescale for his rehabilitation.
"Everyone at Manchester United wishes Lisandro Martinez strength for a successful recovery and we will be supporting him every step of the way."
Martinez is now facing months on the sidelines, but his absence has paved the way for January signing Patrick Dorgu to make his Man Utd debut just days after signing from Serie A side Lecce.
Dorgu along with his new Man United teammates showed their support with a tribute to Martinez ahead of kick-off at Old Trafford, with every player warming up in special shirts.
At the bottom of every shirt was a message that read: “Mucha Fuerza, Lisandro" which in translation reads "Great strength Licha".
