Manchester United will be looking to secure successive Premier League wins for the first time this season when they face Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday.

United remained marooned in the bottom half of the league despite an upturn in performances during Ruben Amorim's eight games in charge. A measure of their inconsistency is that they haven't won back-to-back games in the league all season.

The momentum from a derby day success at the Etihad stalled a little on Thursday when Amorim's side were beaten 4-3 at Tottenham in a thrilling Carabao Cup quarter-final, but the performance was again a positive sign. United will hope to build on that against the high-flying Cherries, and this is what to look out for at Old Trafford:

Rashford reaction

The banner unfurled in the away end on Thursday urging Marcus Rashford to leave the club indicated the kind of reception he might get if he is restored to the squad at any point under Amorim.

Rashford's second successive absence pushed him closer to the exit door and made the road back to the squad and to acceptance with the fanbase a little longer and winding. Amorim praised Alejandro Garnacho's reaction to being dropped, but he clearly isn't happy with Rashford.

He did insist it was a clean slate again for the Bournemouth game, so Rashford could be back. If he is, then the reaction he gets will be fascinating. If he isn't, then it's pretty obvious he is done as a Manchester United player.

Martinez decision

Another key decision for Amorim concerns his centre-backs. Matthijs de Ligt was unwell against Tottenham, while Victor Lindelof picked up an injury. Harry Maguire didn't get on, so he must have a chance of returning to the team, and Leny Yoro had a good game on Thursday.

There are questions about Lisandro Martinez, however. The Argentine is yet to rediscover his form of his first season at the club, having suffered from injuries last term. He was at fault for Tottenham's second goal and defended the third poorly.

Martinez's distribution has dropped off with the rest of his game. His left foot makes him a valuable presence in the back three, but Amorim has shown he isn't afraid to make big selection calls.

Amad's position

One player who should be undroppable at the moment is Amad. The 22-year-old is United's most electric and productive attacker, and the only question against Bournemouth is whether he plays No. 10 or right wing-back.

Even when he is rested, he is coming on early and making a difference, as he has done against Arsenal and Tottenham now. He just has to play, and the only question is where.

Striker question

A week ago, it looked like Rasmus Hojlund had locked down his position as the striker in Amorim's system, but he toiled away manfully without much reward against Manchester City and was ineffective against Tottenham.

Joshua Zirkzee came on and scored on Thursday night, and while the Dutch forward doesn't look like the long-term answer, at the moment there is likely to be some chopping and changing in that role and Zirkzee should start against Bournemouth.

Bournemouth threat

Bournemouth went into the weekend sixth in the Premier League and with Andoni Iraola's stock rising. They will be no pushovers at Old Trafford and won 3-0 here last season.

At least they don't have Dominic Solanke in their ranks anymore. He scored home and away against United last season and has already repeated the feat with Tottenham this season.

Bournemouth still have plenty of threats however, and this will be a tough game.
