Manchester United vs Everton LIVE!

Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee bagged two goals apiece as Manchester United thumped Everton 4-0 on Sunday in new manager Ruben Amorim's first Premier League match at Old Trafford. Rashford put United ahead in the 34th minute when he darted in to fire home Bruno Fernandes's corner with a side-footed volley that sailed in off the outstretched foot of Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

The goal ignited Amorim's side, who dominated the rest of the match, and Zirkzee doubled the lead in the 41st minute when Amad Diallo intercepted Jordan Pickford's goal kick and the Dutch forward fired home Fernandes's cross from close range.

Rashford completed his brace 20 seconds after half- time when he ran on to a through ball from Amad who caused Everton problems all afternoon. The Ivory Coast forward stripped the ball off James Tarkowski in the 64th minute and drove forward before feeding Zirkzee to slot in his second. United climbed three spots to ninth in the table after 13 games, while Everton, who have not scored in four matches, are two points above the relegation zone in 15th.

Ruben Amorim to MUTV

13:16 , Alex Young

“It is impossible to cope with all the games with the same team. We have to be ready, we are changing the way we are playing and everybody has to play and has to train.

"It is impossible in three days to recover all of the players. We played a different game against Bodo/Glimt, we pressed a lot, some players were tired, so I clearly prefer to have fresh legs.

"I also want us to have different characteristics to be harder for the opponent to understand how we are going to play. We have returns like Kobbie Mainoo, one of the best youngsters in this league.

"We have international players, just like I say all the time, and they are ready to win the game."

Alan Shearer's verdict

13:02 , Alex Young

Alan Shearer believes Manchester United will 'scrape' a win against Everton today.

He told Betfair: “After the first two minutes of Amorim's first game you thought 'here we go' but it all went a bit flat after two or three minutes and I thought they were fortunate to come away with a point.

“He's had a few days to work on the system and they've played in Europe on Thursday, but I think with the home crowd, Man United will have too much for Everton, although it won't be easy. It'll be tough but they may just scrape the three points.”

12:46 , Alex Young

There is a suggestion from some that Rashford is the focal point of the attack today, not Zirkzee.

We’ll know for sure in about 45 minutes, but would that mean Zirkzee is one of the no10s? He certainly doesn’t have the legs for a role on the flank.

12:39 , Alex Young

The build-up to the game sees plenty of protests over ticket prices.

United announced in the week that they have scrapped concession tickets for kids and seniors, meaning all tickets are £66 across the board.

It came on the same day they confirmed it cost £22million to sack Erik ten Hag and hire Ruben Amorim.

Not a good look.

Team news

12:27 , Alex Young

It's six changes for Manchester United as Mainoo makes his first start in around two months. Zirkzee gets the nod ahead of Hojlund, while Rashford and Amad also start.

Everton have dropped Calvert-Lewin to the bench, giving Beto a chance up front. Calvert-Lewin has not scored in seven games. The bench features two goalkeepers.

Manchester United can climb into the top half with a victory today.

They have won five on the spin against Everton, which is saying something after seemingly losing every other week under Erik ten Hag.

11:41 , Alex Young

Harry Maguire is expected to be in the squad today.

The former club captain has not played since being taken off at half-time of the 0-0 draw with Aston Villa at the beginning of October.

Ruben Amorim programme notes

11:34 , Alex Young

“Arriving mid-season with so many games in such a short space of time, there are not as many opportunities as we might like to work on things together on the training pitch.

“As a result, there will be a lot of squad rotation so that the players are all either playing or learning in training, but there is going to have to be a lot of learning by doing.”

Score prediction

11:27 , Alex Young

Everton could take heart from some of United’s defensive frailties but the hosts have to feel confident about claiming another victory.

Man Utd to win, 3-1.

Everton team news

11:18 , Alex Young

Everton's on-loan Chelsea forward Armando Broja could be in line for his first appearance in a matchday squad after playing twice for the Under-21s this week as his recovery from an Achilles injury nears conclusion.

Defender Seamus Coleman (thigh) and midfielders James Garner (back) and Tim Iroegbunam (foot) remain sidelined.

Manchester United team news

11:12 , Alex Young

Ruben Amorim will rotate again this afternoon.

The head coach made six alterations for Thursday's Europa League win against Bodo/Glimt, which defenders Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Leny Yoro were absent for.

Luke Shaw has finally recovered from a calf injury to make his first club appearances since February off the bench, both times coming into the back three rather than as one of the wing-backs.

He could earn a start there this weekend if Amorim wants to change one of his centre-backs, or alternatively he could yet put Shaw at wing-back to replace Amad Diallo and shift Diogo Dalot over to the right after playing Tyrell Malacia and Antony on Thursday.

Captain Bruno Fernandes played in a deeper role for United in the Europa League after he operated as one of two No10s against Ipswich, and it will be intriguing to see how many times that is repeated moving forward.

We expect him here to move back forward alongside the in-form Alejandro Garnacho, with Marcus Rashford likely having done enough to keep his starting spot after netting the first goal of the Amorim reign within 81 seconds at Portman Road last weekend.

Amorim said after the Ipswich game that using Rashford as a lone striker was not his long-term plan and Rasmus Hojlund impressed on Thursday.
