Manchester United 'want Thomas Frank to replace Erik ten Hag' as Brentford manager becomes target
Brentford manager Thomas Frank is reportedly a strong contender for the Manchester United job if they sack Erik ten Hag.
The Telegraph reported on Tuesday morning that senior Old Trafford executives have been impressed by the work Frank has done in his six years in charge of Brentford.
Frank is said to have an existing relationship with new United minority owners Ineos and the Dane has previously linked up with Sir Dave Brailsford.
He has taken Brentford into the Premier League and established the Bees in the top flight, leading them to a ninth-placed finish last season.
Ten Hag’s position has come under scrutiny with United down in eighth in the Premier League and in danger of their lowest finish of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
United are said to be seeking a long-term head coach to rebuild the club.
Gareth Southgate has also been touted as a leading candidate for the United job but he this week insisted he is fully focused on leading England at the Euros this summer.
It is expected to be a busy summer for managers, with Thomas Tuchel leaving Bayern Munich and Graham Potter seeking a new challenge more than a year after being sacked by Chelsea.
