Manchester United Women begin FA Cup defence as Man City aim to turn the page after defeats
Manchester United Women and Manchester City Women will be eyeing winning starts to their respective FA Cup campaigns when they enter the competition at the fourth round stage this weekend.
United, who won the competition for the very first time last season, will lock horns with West Bromwich Albion at Leigh Sports Village on Saturday teatime. The Baggies advanced to the fourth round with a 2-0 win over Cheadle Town Stingers last month.
The Baggies currently reside in The FA Women's National League North Premier Division, which is the third tier of women's football, meaning United head into Saturday's clash as overwhelming favourites to progress to the fifth round for the fifth year running.

Marc Skinner's side paused for the recent winter break on a run of three successive victories, meaning they will be keen to pick up from where they left off. They beat Crystal Palace 1-0 in their last Women's Super League [WSL] outing on December 15, courtesy of a first half winner from Grace Clinton.
The meeting between United, who currently sit fourth in the WSL table, and West Brom will mark a family affair for defender Evie Rabjohn, whose older sister, Olivia, plays for the Baggies. However, Evie will miss the game as she continues to recover from a long-term knee injury.
She recently told United's club media: "It's going well [my recovery], I'm getting there. It's been long, very long, but I'm finally kicking on which is nice.
"We said all day: 'We're going to draw each other, we’re going to draw each other.' Olivia was out when the draw was on, but I was at home with my mum and dad, and I watched it.
"As soon as the whole thing started, I was like: 'It's going to be West Brom, it's going to be West Brom.' And it was."
City, meanwhile, will welcome Ipswich Town to the Joie Stadium at the Etihad Campus on Sunday lunchtime. Like West Brom, Ipswich ply their trade in the third tier, meaning City will be strong favourites to progress to the fifth round.
City, who are three-time winners of the FA Cup, were dumped out of the competition at the quarter-final stage last season, losing to Tottenham Hotspur on penalties after a 1-1 draw, meaning they will have strong ambitions of going deeper into the tournament this time around.
The Blues, who currently sit second in the WSL standings, six points behind leaders Chelsea, signed off for their winter break with back-to-back defeats, losing to 2-1 to Everton in the WSL and 3-0 to Barcelona in their final Champions League group game.
City's 3-0 defeat to the Spanish outfit meant they missed out on top spot in Group D on goal difference. However, they finished as runners-up and have progressed to the quarter-finals.
Ahead of the season restarting this weekend, Gareth Taylor's team have spent time in the United Arab Emirates in the past week, enjoying a warm weather training camp. City's players will be hoping it is enough to inspire them to a similar result to the last time they faced Ipswich in the FA Cup, following their 10-0 rout of the Suffolk outfit back in 2020 at the fifth round stage.
Pauline Bremer, Jess Park and Georgia Stanway each helped themselves to a hat-trick after Laura Coombs scored the opening goal after 19 minutes. City went the distance in the FA Cup that season, beating Everton 1-0 in the final at Wembley that was delayed until November because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
United's clash with West Brom on Saturday kicks-off at 5.15pm and City's clash with Ipswich will get under way a little under 24 hours later, kicking-off at 1pm on Sunday.
