Manchester Utd dream starting XI after Milos Kerkez and Patrick Dorgu complete transfers
Manchester United remain in the hunt to provide Ruben Amorim with new blood this January, with Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez and Patrick Dorgu both top transfer targets.
Defeat to Brighton on Sunday marked two steps forward, one step back after a positive start to 2025 under the new boss. It remains evidently clear that this is a squad Amorim has inherited and the only way to fix certain problems is going to have to be by dipping into the transfer market. After all, that is what the club signed up for when they took on this project helmed by a man with fresh ideas.
Seeking to make a change at left full-back, Man United have been linked with players aplenty since November of last year. As reported, they are one of the clubs currently interested in Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez.

The Hungarian, 21, was brought to the Premier League by the Cherries in summer 2023, since going from strength to strength. His defensive capabilities are matched by an impressive attacking output of two goals and three assists this term. The latest of those was a tidy double stepover and finish vs Newcastle United this past weekend.
Additionally, Man United chiefs have been in discussions with US Lecce over the switch of Patrick Dorgu. A player of a similar ilk, he has grown in Serie A as a teenager into a 20-year-old with over 40 appearances to his name already. Premier League clubs have taken note.
It is unknown if Amorim would like both in his squad, yet there are plenty of telltale factors to suggest only one would arrive in any instance. For one, neither player will have the aim of sitting on the bench behind the other as they ambitiously embark on their own careers.
Another is that United continue to battle the English top-flight's financial constraints, needing to stay within those parameters by selling players to afford further squad room. As the clock ticks down on the January window, the possibility of two in the same position arriving becomes smaller than it already is.
The club's first match after the winter window closes on February 3 is an FA Cup tie against Leicester City, scheduled for February 7.
In this hypothetical scenario of either Kerkez or Dorgu arriving before that window shuts, they would take the left full-back position in Amorim's system for that match. Here are alternative interpretations of how a dream team could look that evening:
Amorim seems to have largely settled on a number of players as part of his system under the circumstances.
For a start, the back three of Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez were the trio that secured important results away to Liverpool in the league and Arsenal in the FA Cup.
Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo are his most energetic midfield, while Noussair Mazraoui is his most confident option at right full-back. Amad and Bruno Fernandes have naturally filled the advanced flanking roles.
So that brings the debate down to the left full-back position - taken here by either Kerkez or Dorgu - plus the striker and goalkeeper.
Andre Onana's howler against Brighton has brought him back into the firing line. He would be replaced by Altay Bayindir for the cup anyway, but perhaps the Turkish stopper is the best option moving forward regardless of the competition.
At striker, Joshua Zirkzee has advanced in recent weeks following that substitution against Newcastle. He can be backed to lead the line, barring any upturn in form from Rasmus Hojlund.
