Marco Gabbiadini gives Sunderland transfer view amid 'disappointment' question
Whether Sunderland enjoyed a strong transfer window is up for debate. The consensus is, with the signing of Enzo Le Fee in particular, the Black Cats did well with their business.
But Marco Gabbiadini has suggested he thought it was slightly disappointing.
Roma loanee Le Fee was one of three players Sunderland managed to sign during the January transfer window – but one of those was Wilson Isidor who was already on loan. The other, Jayden Danns on loan from Liverpool, is injured.

Overall, they’re three good signings for Sunderland and Regis Le Bris. Gabbiadini, meanwhile, has given his view on what he thinks of Sunderland’s business.
Speaking on Total Sport, the former Sunderland striker said: “There weren’t too many surprises. They didn’t particularly push the boat out.
“Enzo Le Fee is a good signing. I thought it was quite an impactful signing that one, because of the fee involved and the agreement to pay the fee if we got promoted. I thought maybe it would be followed up with some more, and it wasn’t really.
“A loan at the end [Danns], so is that a disappointment? I don’t know if I’m disappointed, it would’ve just made it a little bit easier for the head coach."
Ultimately, how good Sunderland’s January transfer business was will be determined at the end of this season.
Sporting director Kristjaan Speakman, however, feels that the business the club did before the deadline has set them up nicely for the second half of the campaign. The Black Cats remain in the hunt for an automatic promotion spot despite a 2-2 draw against Watford at the weekend.
Speakman was the man who drove Sunderland's recruitment strategy during the winter window and he feels Le Fee's signing in particular was a statement of intent.
“We feel we are in a really strong position,” said Speakman. “We wanted to go into February feeling like we have the group where we needed them to be for the final games. Players returning from injury have put us in a strong position and obviously we have added the likes of Enzo which has given us incredible quality and I think people are seeing that in the team.
“Ultimately we are really pleased.”
