Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho made to train by Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim hours before derby squad snub
Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford trained this morning before they were omitted from the Manchester United squad to face Manchester City at the Etihad.
The Manchester Evening News revealed the United starting XI for the derby had leaked on Saturday night and later reported that Rashford had been omitted from the squad.
Garnacho has also failed to make the 20-man squad against the Premier League champions and United head coach Ruben Amorim confirmed the pair trained on Sunday morning.
Amorim told Sky Sports the pair "trained well". He added when asked to explain his team: "Selection. We tried to evaluate everything. Training, performance, game performance, engagement with the teammates, push the teammates up. Everything is on the line when we analyse and try to choose the players. So, my selection. Simple."

When asked if he was sending a message with his team selection, Amorim said: "I don't want to send a message, it is simply evaluation and they know it. The players are really, really smart and so everybody understands my decision and I have to choose. It's just simple selection."
United sources have clarified Garnacho's absence is unrelated to suggestions his brother has been leaking teams.
Rashford was substituted after 56 minutes on his return to the starting line-up against Viktoria Plzen on Thursday evening and did not acknowledge Amorim when he was hooked. Amorim did acknowledge the other four players who were taken off.
United supporters in the away end of the Doosan Arena booed Rashford as he continues to experience an uneasy relationship with matchgoers.
Garnacho was a late entrant in United's 2-1 Europa League win but the club's top scorer this season and scorer in the last two derbies is absent at the Etihad.
The 20-year-old had started in four of Amorim's six matches in charge before he was excluded from the squad at City.
