Manchester United players are allegedly annoyed at Marcus Rashford over the interview given two days after the Manchester derby.

Rashford expressed being "ready for a new challenge and the next steps" away from United when the journalist Henry Winter interviewed him on a day off from training during a long-planned visit to his former primary school in Wythenshawe, Button Lane. A day later, head coach Ruben Amorim said during his pre-match press conference ahead of the League Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur, "If this was me, probably I would speak with the manager".

His teammates are yet to publicly share their opinions, but reports have emerged of some players within the United dressing room being unhappy with Rashford.

The Sun quotes an unnamed source: "Some of the players are really annoyed at what Marcus said and why he chose to say it at that time." They also claim Rashford essentially "put in a transfer request" with the remarks and allege there are few "close friends" of Rashford's still in the United squad following the departures of Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba in the summer of 2022.

The source describes him as "pretty quiet" and claims he "doesn't really act as a leader" despite being one of the team's most senior and longest-serving players.

Despite those claims, several teammates liked and commented on Rashford's Instagram post celebrating the victory with a photo of his television taken after Amad scored the winner, with the caption: "Yesssssssss! Love it, lads".

The post was interacted with by Andre Onana, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Ethan Wheatley, Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Lisandro Martinez, Manuel Ugarte, Mason Mount, and Rasmus Hojlund.

Then, on Tuesday, he posted about spending a "great day joining in the Christmas festivities at Button Lane Primary School", which Antony, Chido Obi-Martin, Christian Eriksen, Dalot, Fernandes, Matthijs de Ligt Noussair Mazraoui, Onana, Yoro and Zirkzee liked.
