Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is willing to 'lower his salary' in order to sign for Barcelona, it has been claimed. The 27-year-old has been the centre of transfer talk during the January transfer window after signalling his desire to a seek 'new challenge and the next steps' in December.

Rashford has not played for United since the Europa League tie against Viktoria Plzen last month and that has increased speculation that he is going to be on the move before the February 3 deadline. Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan have been rumoured to hold an interest in the England international.

Barcelona are another club that have been linked with a move for Rashford. It was reported earlier this week that the forward's representatives had held face-to-face talks with the Catalan side about the possibility of a move before the end of the window. President Joan Laporta is said to be a fan of Rashford.

And now, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, a switch to Barcelona is believed to be Rashford's 'dream' and he would be open to cutting his wages in order to join Hansi Flick's side. Rashford, who has three-and-a-half years left on his contract, is reported to be earning around £300,000 per-week at United.

Barcelona are aware of Rashford's desire to sign for them but might have to sanction a departure to free up the funds to bring in the United attacker. Barca are also convinced that Flick can get the best out of Rashford, just as he has done with former Leeds United winger Raphinha so far this season.

Rashford's future at United is bleak. It's clear he is not part of Ruben Amorim's immediate plans despite the fact he doesn't know whether the Wythenshawe-born player is going to leave the club this month.

Speaking in his pre-Fulham press conference, Amorim said: "I really don't know. Guys, it's eight days [until the deadline]. We will see in the end of the window what happened. And then we will talk about that in the moment."
