Marcus Rashford's hopes of joining AC Milan from Manchester United in the January transfer window could be thrown into doubt following an update regarding another deal in Italy.

Rashford is expected to seal a move away from Old Trafford this month after falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim. The forward hasn't played for the Red Devils since the Europa League win over Viktoria Plzen on December 12.

Amorim admitted on Sunday that he does not know if Rashford has played his last game for the club. A number of clubs have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old with Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham said to be keeping tabs.

A move to AC Milan has seemed to be the favourite, especially after Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Milan's advisor, publicly admitted his desire to open discussions with the player over a move to the San Siro.

However, Rashford's proposed move to Milan could be scuppered following news of AC Milan forward Noah Okafor's collapsed exit to RB Leipzig. The forward was expected to leave the club to free up a spot in Sergio Conceicao's squad for the second half of the season.

The Switzerland international was expected to join the Bundesliga side on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season. He left Milan to undergo his medical tests on Monday but it has now been revealed that Leipzig have cancelled the move, according to Sky Sports reporter Philipp Hinze.

A problem in his medical tests, which showed that the 24-year-old would not be available for some time, means Okafor has returned to Milan. It means Milan may struggle to make room for Rashford with the likes of Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic, Tammy Abraham, Samuel Chukwueze and Alvaro Morata already at the club.
