Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has insisted that a move to the MLS is on the cards for Marcus Rashford with his inconsistent performances meaning staying in Europe is not a possibility.

Rashford was left out of the United squad which beat Manchester City on December 15 in dramatic circumstances. The forward celebrated the victory on social media but, just a couple of days later, an interview with Henry Winter was published which saw the Academy graduate admit that a move away from Old Trafford is likely.

Since then, Rashford has remained out of the squad, albeit head coach Ruben Amorim has insisted that he would like the player to stay, and that he remains pushing for a place in his line-up. After the revelations, speculation has been rife as to where the England forward could end up.

Switches to Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG have all been mooted, but Foster feels Rashford should be setting his sights a lot lower. "There's so many people that talk about him that say; 'On his day, on his day'." the former England shot stopper explained on his ever-popular Cycling GK podcast.

"His day is once every 10 games. Genuinely, it's once every 10 games - and you just can't have a luxury player in the modern game that will give you one game out of 10 - it's as simple as that. Coupled with fact that he gets so much reputation and baggage and everything that comes with it, I don't think [Arsenal manager] Mikel Arteta wants that anywhere near that Arsenal.

"He has to get away from Manchester United. I think it'll be a MLS [move] or something.

"It's going to have to be a massive wage cut." Not content with offering up those home truths, Foster went on to explain that a price tag of £40-50million is out of United's reach for their homegrown talent.

"Again, you're talking about money which does really ruin everything lads," Foster continued. "Once people have that massive contract and they've got that five years in the bank and they've got everything they'll ever need for the rest of their life, that takes it [that fire] away.

"They were talking £40million you know as well. I ain't even paying £10million... because of everything."
