Marcus Rashford has thrown his Manchester United future into doubt after admitting he's "ready for a new challenge".

The 27-year-old was dropped from the squad for Sunday's derby win over Manchester City, a decision boss Ruben Amorim insists was not due to any disciplinary issues behind the scenes.

Amorim appeared to suggest he was hoping to see more from the forward during his first few weeks in charge, but Rashford's future at Old Trafford now looks uncertain.

In an interview with football writer Henry Winter published on X, he said: "If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person.

"When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me.

"When I leave it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. You're not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person.

"For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps."

Rashford has scored 138 goals in 426 appearances for the Red Devils since making his debut in 2016. The 2022-23 campaign was his most successful, yielding 30 goals in all competitions.

However, he has struggled for form over the last 18 months.

When asked about his decision to omit Rashford, along with team-mate Alejandro Garnacho for the clash with Manchester City, Amorim said: "It is important to say it was not a disciplinary thing.

"Next week, next game, new life and they are fighting for the places. For me what is important is the performance in training, the performance in game, the way you dress, the way you eat, the way you engage with team-mates and push team-mates."

It remains to be seen what Rashford will do next, with his career still largely a significant financial success, despite the loss of form on the pitch.

Last year, he committed to the Red Devils by signing an extensive five-year contract until 2028. Rashford’s current salary at United is believed to be around £325,000 per week, which equates roughly to around £15m a year.

The England star also endorses brands like Nike, Burberry, BT Sport, and Microsoft, which clearly further top up his overall net worth, which according to EssentiallySports stands at around £60m.

Meanwhile, recent reports claim he's now dating former Love Island contestant Grace Jackson.

The 25-year-old featured on season 11 of the ITV2 dating show this year and was briefly 'coupled up' with Joey Essex, with the pair enjoying a somewhat steamy romance.

Grace boasts nearly 600,000 Instagram followers and her posts regularly reaching more than 20,000 likes.

Following her exit from the show, Grace landed a huge six-figure fashion deal with brand EGO, despite offers from fast fashion brand PrettyLittleThing.
