Jonny Margetts made his return to the King’s Lynn Town frontline, giving manager Adam Lakeland some light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to striking options.

The Linnets have been light up front with Margetts and Gold Omotayo in the treatment room and attempts at bringing in reinforcements yet to bear fruit.

Margetts’ cameo role didn’t bring a goal at Rushall who, despite having the National League North’s leakiest defence, have improved on recent weeks.

“It's always positive to have any player returning from injury,” Lakeland told the club’s official channels.

“To get Jonny that 18, 20 minutes, whatever he got, it's an important part of his return to to full fitness, so he'll be training Thursday, Friday and probably in contention for a start now. I think 90 minutes is a big ask, but with another couple of days training and the 20 minutes there tonight he’ll be in contention for a return to the team.

“Gold will be training on Thursday, which is another positive. We’re still obviously looking to bring one or two if at all possible.”

Lynn’s draw at Rushall saw them slip to sixth in the table, six points behind leaders Chester but just a point from third place.

“It was a tough game,” he said. “We knew it was going to be a difficult game. They've won five out of the last six, beat Kidderminster, beat Scunthorpe, so we knew it wasn't going to be easy, but I'm looking at the positives - delighted with a clean sheet. I thought the performance, generally, was pretty good.

"We've lacked a little bit in the final third, but I think it's fair to say so did they. It was a game of very few opportunities, but I think both teams still tried to play decent, positive football to try and win the game. And it was just one of those one of those evenings where probably the defences for both teams came out on top and just restricted the other team to half moments.”
