Mark Williams in frosty TV studio exchange with snooker rival as feud drags on
Mark Williams gave a brutal snub to a pundit and former snooker pro on live TV as their long-running feud continued.
Williams and Darren Morgan had an explosive fallout ahead of the Welsh Open in 2018. The three-time world champion was openly critical of Morgan, now 58, getting a wildcard invitation ahead of youngster Jackson Page, then 16, a player mentored by Williams.
Morgan, a former world No.8, had beaten Page in the final of an amateur tournament to secure one of two wildcards and an opportunity to pre-qualify for the Welsh Open. Williams mocked Morgan’s involvement in the tournament on social media, although Page ended up playing as a replacement after Joe Swail withdrew.

Morgan hit back, calling Williams a “bully” and a “keyboard warrior”. He told the BBC at the time: "Why Mark decided then get on his high horse when I beat Jackson in the final is beyond me really.
"He thinks it's a bit of banter but there's consequences to everything people do and say... but where he thinks it's banter, to a lot of people, it's cyber bullying... he is abusing his position. He's a bully. He's a keyboard warrior... but he gets away with it."
Seven years later, at the same tournament, the pair found themselves sitting side by side in the BBC Wales studio after Williams’ first-round win over Austrian Florian Nuessle. After answering questions from host Ian Hunter and pundit Ken Doherty, Morgan asked: “Would do say you enjoy it more nowadays compared to when you were young?”
Refusing to even make eye contact with Morgan, Williams merely said “no comment” as Doherty laughed awkwardly. The interview then continued with Doherty and Hunt asking further questions.
Fans were quick to pile in after footage of the tense exchange was shared on social media. One said: “Brilliant move to sit the two of them together! I also thought Morgan might have more sense than to open his mouth! Williams was telegraphing his "no comment" from the outset.
Another added: “Silly having them in the studio together, easiest thing in the world to keep them apart.” A third posted: “Mark has no time for Darren, it's a long story.”
Speaking last year, Morgan said he wished he and Williams could bury the hatched. He said the BBC’s Framed podcast: “If I could go back, I’d have done things differently. He’s one of my favourite snooker players of all time. As much as won’t don’t bother [with each other], I love watching him play.
“Hopefully, things will turn a corner one day and we’ll make amends and say, ‘life’s too short, let’s draw a line under it’.
“I’m prepared to do that. Something tells me Mark isn’t. In some ways, it’s no skin off my nose. You can only be true to yourself and, at the time, I was true to myself.”
