Mason Mount celebrated his 26th birthday with a spin class as he bids to recover from the thigh injury he sustained in last month's Manchester derby.

Mount was handed just his fourth Premier League start of the season in United's 2-1 win over Manchester City last month but was replaced by Kobbie Mainoo with less than 15 minutes on the clock after suffering a thigh injury.

Amorim later revealed that Mount would be sidelined for "several weeks" after his latest injury setback. However, Amorim refused to criticise the England international's torrid injury record since joining United in June 2023.

"What I can do is to help Mase, to teach him how to play our game when he's recovering," said Amorim. "To try to use that time for him to think about different things. I think the worst part is that we don't have time to train like we should do, when you are recovering from a lot of injuries.

"With Mason Mount, we are going to help him. It is really hard for a player to be out for so long and is trying really hard, the same for me. If they try really hard, we will help them until the end."

On Friday, though, Mount uploaded a story to Instagram revealing that he was marking his 26th birthday by partaking in a spin class.

"Birthday spin," wrote Mount to his 5.8million followers.

Following his latest injury setback against City last month, the 26-year-old said: "Words can’t portray how devastated I’m feeling right now, you could probably see the look on my face when it happened.

"I knew what it meant. United fans, you may not know me too well yet, but one thing I can guarantee, I will never give up or lose faith. I’ve said this before, but I will continue to give everything, get through this tough period and won’t stop until that’s achieved."
