The Masters LIVE: Leaderboard and reaction as Scottie Scheffler wins second green jacket ahead of Ludvig Aberg

Scottie Scheffler has won the Masters for the second time in three years after holding off the challenge of Ludvig Aberg and Max Homa to claim the green jacket by four shots at Augusta National.

Pre-tournament favourite and World No 1 Scheffler held a one-shot lead going into the final round but held his nerve on the back nine - even as a surging Aberg and Homa briefly joined him and Collin Morikawa in a four-way tie at the top of the leaderboard.

But the 27-year-old American shot three birdies in a row at the turn to pull clear, with Aberg, Homa and Morikawa all getting into trouble with double bogeys at Amen Corner. Scheffler, by contrast, coasted to victory with a near-faultless display, carding another run of three birdies in four down the stretch.

Scheffler, who won his first major at Augusta in 2022, will now return home to Texas and join his wife Merideth, who is expecting to give birth to the couple’s first child later this month. Scheffler said he would have been prepared to leave the tournament early if necessary

The 24-year-old Aberg continued his stunning rise as a professional, meanwhile, as the Swede finished second on his Masters debut. Aberg, who shone for Europe in the Ryder Cup last year, would have been the first-ever debutant victor at the Augusta were it not for Scheffler.

Scottie Scheffler wins Masters to claim second green jacket in three years

Monday 15 April 2024 00:50 , Ben Fleming

Scottie Scheffler fully justified his status as pre-tournament favourite with a nerveless second Masters title in the space of three years at Augusta National.

The world number one carded a closing 68 to finish 11 under par and four shots clear of Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg, with England’s Tommy Fleetwood, two-time major winner Collin Morikawa and Max Homa three strokes further back.

Scheffler held his nerve as his rivals stumbled around Amen Corner and responded magnificently when Aberg kept the pressure on, the 24-year-old again demonstrating his enormous potential on his major debut.

A recap of how it all went down:

That’s all for now

Well, another four days of splendid major championship golf. Augusta National bore its teeth like we’ve rarely seen in recent years but, amidst the carnage, it was Scheffler who emerged victorious to cement his place as the undisputable king of professional men’s golf.

That’s all from us today - thanks for tuning in throughout the week and we’ll be back next month for the US PGA Championship at Valhalla. Until then!

Collin Morikawa on where his final round went wrong: “I got greedy. When you’re playing really good, you don’t get greedy, and I got greedy on 9, I got greedy on 11. I just was trying to hit it a little bit too close, and greed can get the best of us. I’m going to take a lot from this week.

“It’s been a rough season so far, but hopefully this is kind of the turning point. I’ve seen a lot of good, and watching Scottie today, I know it’s doable for me, I’ve just got to put the pieces together.”

Runner-up Ludvig Aberg reflects on his performance: “I haven’t really thought about it just yet. I think there’s a lot of things that we did very well this week, especially today because I came out and I was very nervous, obviously. I was shaking a little bit on the first tee. Those are all things that I really enjoy doing. We said that it’s a privilege to be able to hit all these shots out here, and it’s a privilege to be in this position.

“Hitting it in the water on 11 wasn’t ideal, but we also just kept playing. That’s what me and my caddie Joe and our team has been trying to work on. Just keep playing no matter what happens. I think we did that very well today, and it just showed that we stuck to what we did, and it ended up being pretty okay.

“Finishing well in the Masters is a dream come true. Just playing here has been such a privilege, and I’m super proud of myself and the team and all the work that we’re doing.”

And on goes the jacket...

A visibly emotional Scheffler with a message to his pregnant wife Meredith who wasn’t on site this week: “I’m coming home! I’ll be home as quick as I can. I love you and I’m coming home!

“It’s a very special time for both of us. I can’t put it into words what it means to win this tournament again and I really can’t put into words what it’s going to be like to be a father for the first time. So looking forward to getting home and celebrating with Meredith - it’s been a long week without her.”

And now, the Masters champion Scottie Scheffler: “I did my best to stay calm out there. I tried to stay patient on the course and was able to make some key shots and putts to keep my round going. Ludvig [Aberg] played great today and made a move on me on the back nine and I was fortunate to hold him off towards the end.

“I hadn’t hit many good iron shots which is a bit unusual for me. I’d hit some good ones but they weren’t really ending up where they were supposed to. At nine, I got that feeling of hitting a really well-struck shot and that set me up to have a really good back nine.”

First up, it’s low amateur Neal Shipley who enjoyed his final round alongside Tiger Woods today.

“It’s a day I’m going to cherish forever, he was great to me out there and to have all the patrons rooting both of us on was phenomenal,” he says. “This week is going to be one of the best weeks of my life and something I will remember forever, especially being able to play with Tiger but the whole week in general.”

It takes some mental fortitude to live up to the billing in such a dominant fashion. Scheffler came in as the heavy favourite and, at the end of it, he showed just why.

He’s now a two-time Masters winner and fourth-youngest to achieve that feat, behind Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Seve Ballesteros.

He’s also the first player since Tiger Woods to claim the Players and the Masters in the same season.

The first real signs of emotion from the American as he lets out a roar after sharing a poignant moment with his caddie Ted Scott who has now won his fourth Masters.

Scottie’s pregnant wife Merideth is watching on from home but he celebrates with the rest of his family who are waiting beyond the green as he makes his way to sign his card and make it all official.

Scheffler -11 (6), Morikawa -5 (74)

More short-game excellence from Scheffler as he cosies his chip up to within tap-in range. Finishing with aplomb.

Morikawa digs his well out of the sand and manages to avoid a double bogey with a good final putt. He gave it all he could be a few closing mistakes saw him fade away.

But the stage is clear for Scheffler, now, as he taps in to become the 2024 MASTERS CHAMPION!

Safely down the last

Monday 15 April 2024 00:00 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -11 (17), Morikawa -5 (17)

It’s into the fairway bunker but away from the trees for Scheffler. That’s all that matters. He launches it up greenside and will try and get up and down for a closing par. Not that it matters, in truth.

Morikawa’s drive clatters off the trees and he has to punch out sideways. It’s a lusty blow with the fairway metal but it’s just short and in the greenside sand.

But now it’s about Scheffler as he begins his procession up the 18th fairway as the patrons gather around the green to welcome him.

The penultimate duo wrap up

Sunday 14 April 2024 23:57 , Ben Fleming

Homa -4 (73), Aberg -7 (69)

Homa’s birdie effort flies by and it’s a one-over-par 73. Not the weekend he would have hoped for, particularly, with the putter but so many encouraging signs. For so long he didn’t contend at the majors - that can’t be labelled at him now.

And what about Ludvig Aberg. Masters debut, major debut. Solo second. His ascent since turning professional is staggering and he’ll be back to contend again in the future, that is for sure. A three-under-par round of 69 for the Swede.

Up the last we head

Sunday 14 April 2024 23:53 , Ben Fleming

Homa -4 (17), Aberg -7 (17)

First with Homa and Aberg. The American is on the dancefloor in two, while Aberg goes from fairway bunker to greenside bunker and will need to get up and down to save par.

A great effort from the pair of them today, at times pushing Scheffler all the way. But two fatal errors - at 11 and 12 respectively - ultimately proved too costly.

Almost another for Scheffler

Sunday 14 April 2024 23:48 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -11 (17), Morikawa -5 (17)

Another superb iron into the green and another great look at birdie for Scheffler...just misses. That was a great roll but it just didn’t drop.

Morikawa, too, misses out with a good look at birdie and the final pair head up the last.

Scheffler leads by four.

Schauffele and DeChambeau finish off

Sunday 14 April 2024 23:46 , Ben Fleming

Schauffele -1 (73), DeChambeau -2 (73)

Not the final round that either was hoping for. Schauffele continues his impressive track record at Augusta, while it’s a timely return to major championship form for Bryson.

Bogey for Homa

Sunday 14 April 2024 23:43 , Ben Fleming

Homa -4 (17), Aberg -7 (17)

The steam has run out of this penultimate duo, in particular Homa who finds himself in the sand after his iron comes up short. The American can’t get up and down and it’s a bogey to drop him back to -4.

Aberg taps in for his par to remain in second.

Scheffler on the brink

Sunday 14 April 2024 23:36 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -11 (16), Morikawa -5 (16)

And that could be that. Another beautiful iron into the 16th green and he makes no mistake, rolling in another birdie - his third in four holes - to extend his lead to four.

What a clinical display in the closing stages from the undisputed best player on the planet. Just two to go now as Morikawa two-putts well for his par.

Birdie for Morikawa

Sunday 14 April 2024 23:27 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -10 (15), Morikawa -5 (15)

Scheffler’s lie in the sand isn’t as bad as it first looked and, given his short-game prowess, he is more than capable of geting his ball on the dance floor.

A two-putt secures his par, while Morikawa gets a reward for his fine wedge into the green as he rolls in a birdie to get back to -5.

Great par save from Aberg

Sunday 14 April 2024 23:25 , Ben Fleming

Homa -5 (16), Aberg -7 (16)

In the sand left short of the 16th green, Aberg uses the slopes of the green like a man with experience beyond his year. It’s a superb shot and he saves his par to keep alive a faint hope of something miraculous on the final two holes.

Homa’s tee shot just doesn’t quite have enough on it to catch the slope and he has to settle for par.

Sandy trouble for Scottie

Sunday 14 April 2024 23:21 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -10 (14), Morikawa -4 (14)

The leader has somewhat of an awkward lie in the bunker greenside at 15 but Morikawa has hit a beauty in and a good look at birdie.

Pars on the 15th

Sunday 14 April 2024 23:17 , Ben Fleming

Homa -5 (15), Aberg -7 (15)

Aberg hacks out well from the trees and gives himself a good look at birdie after a wedge in but the chance evades him. Homa, too, misses out and time is running out for the pair of them.

DeChambeau putting woes continue

Sunday 14 April 2024 23:12 , Ben Fleming

DeChambeau -3 (16)

Normally known for his good ability on the greens, it’s not happened today for the former US Open champion. A great look at the par-3 16th goes begging and the frustration is etched across his face.

Fleetwood set the clubhouse lead

Sunday 14 April 2024 23:11 , Ben Fleming

Fleetwood -4 (69)

It was always a tall order today but Tommy Fleetwood has done his Masters record no damage. In the clubhouse after a three-under-par 69 and currently in a tie for fourth.

It would be his first top five at Augusta if it stays that way.

Scheffler leads by three

Sunday 14 April 2024 23:09 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -10 (14), Morikawa -4 (14)

Morikawa lags his uphill putt up close enough and taps in for a par, but it’s all about Scheffler who kicks in his birdie to get to -10 and extend his lead to three.

Magic from Scheffler

Sunday 14 April 2024 23:04 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -9 (13), Morikawa -4 (13)

The door is very quickly slamming shut for the chasers. Aberg hit a great wedge into the 14th green but Scheffler’s is even better. A mere kick-in for the leader who will surely extend his lead to three.

Meanwhile, on the 15th, Aberg is out of position and surely can’t take on the par-5 15th in two.

Aberg still coming

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:58 , Ben Fleming

Homa -5 (14), Aberg -7 (14)

Credit to Aberg, who has not wilted since that double bogey. In fact, quite the opposite. A birdie on 13 is followed by another sparkling approach into the 14th. The ball comes to rest below the hole and the Swede obliges, knocking it in for another birdie to get back within two of Scheffler.

He’ll need more birdies coming in but perhaps it’s not over just yet.

Homa has an outside look at birdie but has to settle for par.

Birdies all round on 13

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:56 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -9 (13), Morikawa -4 (13)

Both over the creek in two and both within range for their birdies putt. Expertly done from the final pairing as Morikawa knocks in for birdie before Scheffler follows suit.

The leader moves to -9 and is closing in on his second green jacket.

Fleetwood running out of holes

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:54 , Ben Fleming

Fleetwood -4 (17)

Another good roll from Tommy but it’s another one that doesn’t drop as he heads to the 18th still at -4. A good final round but another ‘what it’ tournament for the Englishman.

Aberg gets one back

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:46 , Ben Fleming

Homa -5 (13), Aberg -6 (13)

Homa has never taken that green on in two all week and opts to lay up yet again. It’s an outside look at birdie but it doesn’t drop and that will be a par. Those won’t do at this stage.

Now for Aberg. A big eagle effort...and it just misses. A great roll but it’s just a birdie. Still, back within two of Scheffler.

Eagle chance for Aberg

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:44 , Ben Fleming

Homa -5 (12), Aberg -5 (12)

Wow, out of nowhere! Aberg has responded superbly since that double bogey and a beauty of a 4-iron into the par-5 13th green gives the Swede a look at eagle to get back to -7. If that drops watch out for the roar from the patrons.

Fleetwood up into fourth

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:42 , Ben Fleming

Fleetwood -4 (16)

With others faltering around him, the Englishman is quietly putting together one of the best rounds from the late starters. A downhiller on the 16th...off the flag! That’s a good break for Fleetwood but it will just be a par.

Can he finish birdie-birdie and putt a score on the board?

Safe from Scheffler

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:38 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -8 (12), Morikawa -3 (12)

Many a leader has faltered at the 12th but Scheffler will not be that man. A great tee shot into the heart of the par-3 green and he’ll walk away content with a par.

Morikawa takes dead aim and gives himself a good look at birdie but it escapes on the low side and that’s just a par.

Scheffler knows in for his par - the world no.1 leads by three.

Double bogey for Homa

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:30 , Ben Fleming

Homa -5 (12), Aberg -5 (12)

Aberg responds well to his double bogey with a par at the 12th but there’s nothing that Homa can do to keep the double bogey off his card. He’s been so disciplined all tournament but the American is now three back of Scheffler after that awful slice of luck.

Disaster for Homa

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:28 , Ben Fleming

Homa -7 (11), Aberg -5 (11)

The American is in all sorts of bother here as his tee shot into the par-3 12th bounces over the back and into the shrubbery beyond the green. He’s got to take a drop and is facing down the prospect of a double bogey too.

From a four-way tie about an hour ago, Scheffler could soon be leading by three.

Dropped shots for Scheffler and Morikawa

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:26 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -8 (11), Morikawa -3 (11)

A great chip from Morikawa gives him a chance of escaping with a bogey but the following putt is a tame one and doesn’t even get to the hole.

Scheffler’s chip from the right leaves something to be desired and he can’t escape with his par in tact. Back to -8 for the leader.

Morikawa joins Aberg in the water

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:21 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -9 (10), Morikawa -5 (10)

The tenth claims another victim and the contenders are rapidly falling away from Scheffler. Morikawa’s is a poor swing and it’s straight in the water.

Scheffler plays safe out to the right but it’s all opening up for the 2021 champion now.

Double bogey for Aberg

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:18 , Ben Fleming

Homa -7 (11), Aberg -5 (11)

As expected, the Swede can’t rustle up the necessary magic from his drop and it’s a costly double bogey which moves him back to -5 alongside Morikawa.

Homa’s long-range birdie putt goes by but he knocks the par putt in easily enough.

Aberg in the water

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:06 , Ben Fleming

Homa -7 (10), Aberg -7 (10)

And could that be that for Ludvig? The Swede finally blinks at the treacherous par-4 11th as he pulls his iron shot into the water left of the green. The best he can hope for is a bogey from there but that will require some short-game magic.

Homa takes the safe option and plays out to the right edge of the green.

Scheffler has daylight

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:03 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -9 (10), Morikawa -5 (10)

If Homa’s approach into the tenth was superb, Scheffler’s is equally magical.

He’s got a great look at birdie...and makes no mistake! Three birdies in a row and he now leads by two over Homa and Aberg. He started slowly but the World No.1 is on fire right now.

Fleetwood and DeChambeau moving on up

Sunday 14 April 2024 22:00 , Ben Fleming

Fleetwood -4 (13)

The focus has rightly been on the final four but, back a bit further, Fleetwood advances his position slightly, with birdie at 13

He needs something special down the closing stretch but it’s not out of the question.

Huge birdie for Homa

Sunday 14 April 2024 21:54 , Ben Fleming

Homa -7 (10), Aberg -7 (10)

A shot of sheer brilliance from Homa as he birdies the tricky tenth. A slinging hook off the tee gives him the license to attack the green, and it’s a superb effort that he duly converts to move back within one of Scheffler.

What a marvellous hole from the American.

In amongst all that, Aberg makes his par to stay at -7.

Bunker trouble for Morikawa

Sunday 14 April 2024 21:48 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -8 (9), Morikawa -5 (9)

A fatal mistake from Morikawa as he leaves it in the greenside bunker with his third shot. He gives it more to make sure he gets out at the second time of asking but that’s a length putt to avoid a double bogey.

It’s a good stroke but the ball doesn’t drop and that is a double-bogey six in the end. All of sudden, Morikawa is three behind his playing partner having started the hole level. A huge back nine needed.

Scheffler back in front

Sunday 14 April 2024 21:45 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -8 (9), Morikawa -7 (8)

Goodness me, this tournament just keeps on giving. From the fairway, it’s a gem from Scheffler, gripping and spinning back towards the hole and threatening to go in for eagle.

It just misses but a tap-in birdie restores his lead at the top.

Morikawa still to go from the bunker.

Monster birdie for Aberg

Sunday 14 April 2024 21:40 , Ben Fleming

Homa -6 (9), Aberg -7 (9)

Any chances of some nerves, Ludvig? Not one of his best irons into the par-4 ninth but the Swede steps up and rolls in a beauty from 36 feet, bending from right to left before dropping in the heart of the hole.

A front-nine 33 for Aberg to go back alongside Scheffler and Morikawa at the top.

Homa’s birdie putt races by but he makes the return one for par to stay just one back.

Scheffler and Morikawa make birdie

Sunday 14 April 2024 21:33 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -7 (8), Morikawa -7 (8)

Scheffler up first and he makes no mistake! A great bounce-back birdie for the World No. 1 but he has the lead on his own for a matter of seconds as Morikawa drains his birdie effort to join him on -7.

Morikawa with a beauty

Sunday 14 April 2024 21:30 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -6 (7), Morikawa -6 (7)

There’s others out there but all the action is with these final two pairings. Morikawa is in the fairway bunker off the tee. He’s forced to layup but, from there, it’s a beautiful wedge in close and he’ll have a chance to get himself into the lead.

Scheffler goes just over the green and his chip runs just past the hole. A good chance, too, for a birdie.

Homa joins the lead at the top

Sunday 14 April 2024 21:23 , Ben Fleming

Homa -6 (8), Aberg -6 (8)

A disappointing hole prior but Homa responds in style, reaching the green in two and nursing his eagle effort down close. That’s a great birdie to get himself back up to -6.

Aberg perhaps shows the first signs of nerves as his chip is overhit and spurns any hopes of a birdie, too.

Three becomes four at the top. What a back nine we’re in for.

Scheffler drops back with second bogey

Sunday 14 April 2024 21:13 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -6 (7), Morikawa -6 (7)

Scheffler has not got it going off the tee, that much is for sure. The leader catches the tree with his drive and can’t take on the green. He’s in the bunker after his second and has work to do to save his par.

Morikawa, though, is first up with his birdie effort. He left it below the hole and it’s a makeable distance but he just can’t get them to drop. It lacks the pace and dies to the left of the hole.

Back to Scheffler. Big par putt...but it slides by! Another bogey for Scheffler and we have a three-way tie at the top.

Aberg within one as Homa makes bogey

Sunday 14 April 2024 21:02 , Ben Fleming

Homa -5 (7), Aberg -6 (7)

And here comes Aberg! A gorgeous second shot into the seventh - reminiscent of one from Fleetwood earlier on - gives him a great look at birdie. From there he can’t miss and the Swede is surging and within one of the lead.

Homa, meanwhile, takes a backward step after a double-cross hook on the tee. He punches out well to the front of the green but his par putt just misses on the low side and he drops back to -5.

It’s heating up in this final round.

Putts not dropping for final duo

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:57 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -7 (6), Morikawa -6 (6)

Two nice approaches into the par-3 sixth but neither can take advantage. The putter has been cold for these two so far, Morikawa in particular who has given himself a lot of good looks at birdie.

Onto the seventh they go.

Big miss for Fleetwood

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:50 , Ben Fleming

Young -1 (8), Fleetwood -3 (8)

Four back and Fleetwood needs to make things happen. A wedge to eight feet gives him a look at birdie but the opportunity goes begging. Those are the kinds of chances that have to drop if you’re in his position.

Birdie chances go begging for final group

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:49 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -7 (5), Morikawa -6 (5)

A marvellous approach shot from Scheffler gives him a great look at birdie but it’s just pushed out to the left side. Morikawa, meanwhile, has a look from a bit further back but his effort runs out of steam and dies away to the left.

Still, two pars and on to the next.

Huge par save from Aberg

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:46 , Ben Fleming

Homa -6 (6), Aberg -5 (6)

Aberg is millimetres away from seeing his tee shot stay on the top ridge but it rolls back down and that’s a nasty two-putt for par. He races the first effort past the hole but that’s a gutsy one back to save par.

Homa, though, lands his on the top shelf and he’s got a great look at birdie...but it doesn’t drop. Pushed out to the right and that’s a golden opportunity.

Back-to-back bogeys for Schauffele

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:43 , Ben Fleming

Bryson DeChambeau -3 (6), Xander Schauffele -1 (6)

Disappointing from Schauffele as his tee shot into the sixth comes up short at the par-3. He’s unable to two-putt from the front of the green and it’s consecutive bogeys which move him six behind the leader.

DeChambeau makes par to keep his faint hopes alive.

Steady from penultimate pairing

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:35 , Ben Fleming

Homa -6 (5), Aberg -5 (5)

Scheffler looks a bit unsure with his distance control in these early stages, but Homa and Aberg are dialled in. Outside looks at birdie on the fifth but they both settle for pars.

Scheffler drops one back

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:33 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -7 (4), Morikawa -6 (4)

Morikawa finds the heart of the green and two putts for his par but it’s Scheffler who is in trouble as he goes way long with his tee shot into the par-3 fifth.

It’s a tricky chip and the leader leaves himself with work to do to save his par...not to be. His effort drifts right of the hole and his lead goes back to one straight away.

DeChambeau on a roll

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:27 , Ben Fleming

Bryson DeChambeau -3 (5), Xander Schauffele -2 (5)

It’s a real yo-yo round for Bryson but he’s back where he started. A birdie on the fifth gets him back to -3 for the tournament and is there life in him yet?

Schauffele, meanwhile, pays the price for a costly approach into the green and can’t save his par from the bunker.

Hatton going along nicely

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:25 , Ben Fleming

Hatton -1 (12)

That will do nicely, Tyrrell! A birdie at 10 is followed by another on 12 and this one is a cracker. 43 feet and right in the heart of the hole.

The Englishman moves into the red and the top ten.

Scheffler extends lead

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:23 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -8 (3), Morikawa -6 (3)

Both end up in the left bunker as they take on this driveable par-4 fourth in one. Morikawa’s bunker shot is okay and that will be a par but Scheffler’s follow-up effort is divine.

How many times have we seen that from him as he knocks in a simple birdie to extend his lead to two.

Pars on the fourth for Homa and Aberg

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:21 , Ben Fleming

Homa -6 (4), Aberg -5 (4)

Not the greatest tee shots into the par-3 fourth from the penultimate duo but they take care of business to make par. More gettable holes to come for those two.

Fleetwood on the move

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:19 , Ben Fleming

Young -1 (7), Fleetwood -3 (7)

Fleetwood has another! What is happening here for the Englishman? A perfect drive allows him to attack the seventh pin and attack it he does. A simple birdie putt and he makes it.

The par-5 eighth to come now - he needs another birdie there.

Bounce-back birdie for Bryson

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:14 , Ben Fleming

Bryson DeChambeau -2 (4), Xander Schauffele -3 (4)

Well, maybe I spoke too soon about DeCheambeau as he pours in a much-needed birdie to get back to -2. Schauffele makes another solid par.

So close for Homa

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:13 , Ben Fleming

Homa -6 (3), Aberg -5 (3)

Oh, how did that not go in? A great wedge into the third gives Homa a right-to-left putt for birdie but it just misses on the low side. That looked in all the way.

Aberg is in trouble after a poor chip with his second but he putts it close from off the green and gets away with a par.

Morikawa misses out

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:11 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -7 (2), Morikawa -6 (2)

The penultimate group took care of the par-5 second but the final pairing are struggling. Morikawa was on the dancefloor in two but a three-putt means he has to settle for a par.

Scheffler, like Aberg, ends up beyond the green and in the patrons and has work to do for his par. A bump and run is expertly judged and he saves his par. Still, not a stunning start from our leader.

Unravelling for DeChambeau

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:02 , Ben Fleming

Bryson DeChambeau -1 (3), Xander Schauffele -3 (3)

That could be that for Bryson. A terrible chip into the third green comes up short and rolls all the way back down off the green. He won’t get up and down, either, so it’s a bogey five and he’s now six back of Scheffler.

Schauffele, meanwhile, makes a sturdy par to keep himself in the hunt.

Birdies for Aberg and Homa

Sunday 14 April 2024 20:00 , Ben Fleming

Homa -6 (2), Aberg -5 (2)

The Swede goes left into the patrons with his second shot and his chip down onto the green somehow gets caught on the downhill ridge. It’s a nasty putt down the hill...but he makes it! Superb from Aberg as he gets his round started.

Homa is in a similar spot but also makes eagle as his catches the slope towards the hole. He just misses out on a three, but a much-needed birdie which ends his long run without one.

A great start for those two in their quest to chase down Scheffler.

Great reponse from Hojgaard

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:52 , Ben Fleming

Cameron Davis -1 (3), Nicolai Hojgaard -2 (3)

Hojgaard looked nervy on the first tee and made a double bogey but he’s responded in style. A birdie at the second is followed by a booming drive which flies the green on the par-4 third. A good two-putt gets him his second successive birdie and he’s back to -2 where he started the round.

Pars at the first

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:51 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -7 (1), Morikawa -6 (1)

Scheffler’s approach comes up short at the first but it’s an easy up and down for his par. Morikawa has a look at a birdie to get alongside his partner but it falls short. Two pars and on we go.

Birdie for Schauffele

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:50 , Ben Fleming

Bryson DeChambeau -2 (2), Xander Schauffele -3 (2)

That’s about as stress-free of a birdie as you’re likely to see at the par-5 second all day from Schauffele. On the green in two, simple two-putt and he’s within three of Scheffler.

DeChambeau’s shakey start continues as he airmails the green and lands amongst the patrons. His chip down to the green is well-judged and gives him a look at birdie but the opportunity passes him by. Not the start he would have wanted.

Sandy save for Fleetwood

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:43 , Ben Fleming

Young -1 (4), Fleetwood -2 (4)

Tommy recovers well from his tee shot landing in the bunker to make par at the fourth. Young takes a backward step, though, with a bogey. He can’t afford many of those.

Stress-free pars for Homa and Aberg

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:41 , Ben Fleming

Homa -5 (1), Aberg -4 (1)

Aberg is in position A from the middle of the fairway and fires a dart into the heart of the green. A great chance for birdie but he doesn’t get it to the hole.

Homa has to get creative from the left side of the fairway but it’s a beautiful draw that spins towards the hole as it catches the green. His birdie putt is a good one but it dies away to the left.

Still, two stress-free pars for our penultimate duo.

The final pairing are off

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:39 , Ben Fleming

Scheffler -7, Morikawa -6

Strap in, folks. Scheffler and Morikawa arrive at the first tee box as the final pairing gets ready to head off. Scheffler has the lead and the form, and Morikawa the major championship know-how.

Both stripe their drives down the middle.

Opening-hole bogey for DeChambeau

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:34 , Ben Fleming

Bryson DeChambeau -2 (1), Xander Schauffele -2 (1)

Another one of the chasers falls victim to the first hole. In the bunker off the tee and out of position with his approach into the green. It’s a tough two-putt from there and it’s even harder after he races the first effort past the hole.

A bogey moves him five back off Scheffler now as his playing partner Schauffele nudges his in for a par.

Cam Young gets up and running

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:30 , Ben Fleming

Young -2 (3), Fleetwood -2 (3)

It’s only an outside chance for Tommy at the third but he’s more than happy to roll that up holeside and tap in for his par.

Cam Young, though, gets his round up and running with a birdie to move alongside his playing partner on -2.

Eagle for Smith

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:26 , Ben Fleming

Smith -3 (2), An -1 (1)

Cam Smith out of nowhere! The Aussie knows what it takes to win a major and has suddenly snuck up into the top five after he holes out from the greenside bunker on two for eagle. Can he make a charge at Scheffler?

His playing partner Byeong-Hun An has to settle for a birdie, a good response after his opening-hole birdie.

Double bogey for Hojgaard

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:24 , Ben Fleming

Cameron Davis -1 (1), Nicolai Hojgaard E (1)

A horrible, nervy start for this group. Hojgaard’s horrible tee shot leads to a costly double bogey, while Davis goes over the back of the green and can’t get up and down to save his par.

Moving in the wrong direction early on.

Bryson underway

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:19 , Ben Fleming

Bryson DeChambeau -3, Xander Schauffele -2

Motoring through these tee times now as DeChambeau and Schauffele get underway. Bryson finds the bunker with his tee shot, while Xander creams one down the middle.

The cameras pan back to Max Homa who makes his walk from the clubhouse to the first tee - him and Ludvig Aberg will be up next.

Almost back-to-back for Fleetwood

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:17 , Ben Fleming

Young -1 (2), Fleetwood -2 (2)

A poor drive off the par-5 second prevents Fleetwood from taking the green on in two but he’s left with a tricky downhill putt from the fringe. It’s on a good line and oh so nearly drops in but just has too much speed to catch the lip. He taps in for the par.

Young sees his birdie effort run out of steam so he’s started par-par.

Hojgaard in trouble off the first

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:11 , Ben Fleming

Cameron Davis -2, Nicolai Hojgaard -2

It was a poor end to the third round for the Dane and he’s not made a great start to the second as he snap hooks his drive off the first tee. That will be a tricky one to save par from.

Perfect start for Fleetwood

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:02 , Ben Fleming

Young -1 (1), Fleetwood -2 (1)

Here comes Tommy! He couldn’t buy a putt yesterday but it’s the perfect start to his final round as he pours one in on the par-4 first. Within five now with the gettable second to come. He couldn’t could he...

Sunday 14 April 2024 19:00 , Ben Fleming

Here’s what is to come in the next half an hour or so.

1905: Cameron Davis (-2), Nicolai Hojgaard (-2)

1915: Bryson DeChambeau (-3), Xander Schauffele (-2)

1925: Max Homa (-5), Ludvig Aberg (-4)

1935: Scottie Scheffler (-7), Collin Morikawa (-6)

Round of the day

Sunday 14 April 2024 18:56 , Ben Fleming

Kim +5 (66)

A round that will inspire confidence from the chasing pack. A bogey on the 17th is the only blemish for Tom Kim on a back nine that saw him birdie five holes, including all three through the fearsome Amen Corner.

A six-under-par 66 vaults him up into the top 30 as things stand.

Fleetwood underway

Sunday 14 April 2024 18:48 , Ben Fleming

Young -1, Fleetwood -1

It will take something special from one of these two to trouble the top of the leaderboard, and that’s certainly not the start Cameron Young would have wanted as he goes way right with his first drive.

Fleetwood sends one straight dawn the middle.

Woods finishes off

Sunday 14 April 2024 18:39 , Ben Fleming

Woods +16 (77), Shipley +12 (73)

Tiger almost threatens a closing birdie but his bump and run just misses on the right side. He taps in for a final round of 77 that leaves him 60th for the week. Not the weekend he would have wanted but it marks just the second time he has completed four rounds at a Major since the 2020 Masters.

Let’s see if his body will allow him to recover for next month’s US PGA Championship at Valhalla.

Amateur Neal Shipley, meanwhile, makes a closing bogey but that’s a very encouraging 73 to finish off his great tournament.

Costly three putt from Rory

Sunday 14 April 2024 18:27 , Ben Fleming

McIlroy +4 (2), Niemann +4 (2)

Under ten feet for an eagle on the third and McIlroy pushes the effort past the right edge. Back up the hill for birdie...oh no. Misses on the low side this time and it’s only a par. Just not his week.

Hole-out birdie from Rahm

Sunday 14 April 2024 18:22 , Ben Fleming

Rahm +3 (7)

The Spaniard is in trouble off the tee but recovers superbly, punching out of the pine straw before holing out from the fairway with a wedge in hand for his third birdie of the round.

Another one for Kim

Sunday 14 April 2024 18:17 , Ben Fleming

Kim +5 (15)

Tom Kim’s final round goes from strength to strength as he takes care of the par-5 15th to make his fifth birdie in seven holes. Six under par for his round, now.

Bunker magic from Woods

Sunday 14 April 2024 18:09 , Ben Fleming

Woods +16 (16), Shipley +11 (16)

A bogey on the 15th from Woods but some magic from the sand at the par-3 16th, using the slope superbly to bring the ball back towards the hole and almost making a ridiculous birdie.

Shipley knocked in a mammoth birdie on the 15th but he misses out on back-to-back birdies after a great iron shot into the par 3.

Is it Scottie’s to lose?

Sunday 14 April 2024 18:02 , Ben Fleming

1935: Scottie Scheffler (-7), Collin Morikawa (-6)

A birdie on the last secured Scheffler a one-shot lead heading into today and given the form he’s in, that might be all he needs. The World No.1 has looked largely unflappable through 54 holes and will be the favourite today.

Morikawa, meanwhile, has snuck up out of nowhere to be in this final pairing. The two-time major champion has endured a quiet season but after three under-par rounds is just one off the lead. Largely due to a resurgence, the American now has a chance to move within one major of winning a career grand slam.

Bogey start for McIlroy

Sunday 14 April 2024 18:02 , Ben Fleming

McIlroy +4 (1), Niemann +4 (1)

Not the start either of these two would have been after. McIlroy left of the green, Neimann right - both unable to get up and down to save their par.

They’ll be hoping to bounce back at the par-5 second.

Chip-in for Willett

Sunday 14 April 2024 17:51 , Ben Fleming

Willett +2 (1)

Well, that’s one way to get your round up and running. Like Scheffler, yesterday, the 2016 champion chips in from left on the first to make a birdie start to his round.

It’s worth repeating that this is the Englishman’s first tournament start since September last year due to shoulder surgery. A quite splendid return given that and the conditions he’s faced this week.

Homa playing the patient game

Sunday 14 April 2024 17:42 , Ben Fleming

1925: Max Homa (-5), Ludvig Aberg (-4)

Max Homa may not have made a birdie in 32 holes but the American is still just two shots back of the lead. That tells you all you need to know about the conditions at Augusta but also his resilience and consistency thru the first three rounds.

Despite his PGA Tour success, Homa’s first major top ten came at last year’s Open. Can he now build on that and capture his first major title?

Aberg, meanwhile, is here on major debut but has shown no signs of being overawed by the emotion. The Swedish sensation delivered another solid round yesterday and will hope to use his elite ball striking to put himself into the record books.

Up and down start for Rahm

Sunday 14 April 2024 17:37 , Ben Fleming

Rahm +4 (3)

A superb shot from the sand on three gives Rahm his second birdie of the day after his bogey on the par-5 second. Can he get a run going together and shoot up towards the top ten?

Rory McIlroy admits patience has been tested during disappointing Masters

Sunday 14 April 2024 17:30 , Ben Fleming

Rory McIlroy will get his final round underway in about 15 minutes as he looks to mount a final-day charge to end his tournament on a positive note.

McIlroy had not given up hope of challenging for a green jacket despite a birdie-free 77 in extremely testing conditions on Friday leaving him 10 shots off the lead.

The world number two noted that he won the Dubai Desert Classic in January from the same position - albeit while acknowledging the different stature of the events - but could only return a third round of 71 on Saturday to remain well off the pace on three over par.

Here’s what he had to say after Saturday’s round:

Rory McIlroy admits patience has been tested during disappointing Masters

Round of the day from Kim

Sunday 14 April 2024 17:28 , Ben Fleming

Kim +6 (12)

There’s a decent amount of red on the board from the early starters but nothing better than Tom Kim who is five under par for his round after three successive birdies on Amen Corner. Impressive stuff.

The Masters 2024

Sunday 14 April 2024 17:19 , Ben Fleming

Could we be in for an all-action Sunday? Former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley certainly thinks so...

Can DeChambeau build on magical Saturday ending?

Sunday 14 April 2024 17:12 , Ben Fleming

1915: Bryson DeChambeau (-3), Xander Schauffele (-2)

Bryson had fallen away from the lead after a disastrous back nine yesterday, including a terrible fluffed chip on the 15th. But the American delivered a shot of adrenaline to his tournament hopes after an unbelievable hole out from the fairway for birdie on the 18th hole. He’s four back but don’t count the ‘Mad Scientist’ out yet.

Xander Schauffele went about his business superbly yesterday with 16 pars and 2 birdies. His uber-consistency has kept him in the hunt but he’ll need a dynamite Sunday to chase down Scheffler.
