The Arsenal hierarchy are currently evaluating potential attacking signings to help keep Mikel Arteta's side in Premier League title contention.

The Gunners currently find themselves second, six points behind a formidable Liverpool side who have a game in hand over the London club. Injury woes have plagued Arsenal's campaign with starman Bukayo Saka sidelined for months alongside other attacking options such as Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Ethan Nwaneri.

The transfer window slams shut on February 3, less than two weeks away, and Arteta faces a monumental challenge if he is to prise a forward of considerable quality away from any club in that time.

RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, who the club have had on their radar for some time, is once again attracting the Gunners despite extending his now four-and-a-half-year contract in the summer.

The German club's reportedly imminent €30million bid for Southampton winger Tyler Dibling could prove to be positive news for Arsenal as it could set off a chain reaction of movement which could result in Sesko arriving at the Emirates Stadium.

However, if this does not come to fruition, there could be a domestic solution to the side's issues with scoring from open play.

Wolves' Matheus Cunha has netted 10 goals and registered four assists in the Premier League so far this campaign - two goals ahead of Arsenal's top scorer Kai Havertz.

Similarly to Sesko, and any other winter target, the Brazilian forward's services may prove to be costly but the stats suggest he might be worth the gamble.

Net World Sports has analysed the latest expected goals (xG) data, uncovering the Premier League's most clinical finishers and identifying the forwards struggling to convert chances - with Cunha being one of the league's most potent frontmen.

Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo leads the way, overperforming his xG by 5.6 with 13 Premier League goals from 6.8 xG. Next is Nottingham Forest's Chris Wood with 14 goals from 8.1 xG - an overperformance of 5.5 xG. Then, Wolves' Cunha has registered 10 goals from just 4.7 xG - an overperformance of 5.3 xG.

This data could symbolise the versatile forward's overachievements this campaign or it could be the underlying factor needed to make Arteta designate him as the striker to get the Gunners firing again.
