Arsenal are continuing to be linked with a move for Wolves star Matheus Cunha in the early days of the January transfer window.

The Gunners are now able to strengthen their squad via new signings after the transfer window opened on New Year's Day. It remains to be seen if Arsenal will be in the market for new additions over the next few weeks, with rumours already starting to swirl about the business that may be conducted.

Reports in recent weeks have claimed that Cunha may be a target for Arsenal. The Brazilian has scored 10 goals for Wolves in the Premier League this season, with such form also seeing him linked with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle.

Amid the rumours linking Cunha with a move to Arsenal, football.london understands that the Gunners are not in advanced talks to complete any new signings at this stage.

Arsenal completed six new signings last summer, along with the permanent addition of David Raya following his loan from Brentford. It's also understood that there is a desire at the Emirates Stadium to do business this month in the transfer market, something which Mikel Arteta hinted at during a recent press conference.

"I don’t know because the focus is on the players we have," Arteta told reporters on Friday when asked if he expects Arsenal to make any new signings during the transfer window.

"If something stronger is in the market that we can afford and we believe is going to have a real impact in the team, we always have to be open for that possibility because we’d have the ability to improve the squad in the windows.

"But at the moment, the focus is on what we have."
