Aston Villa are reportedly weighing up a move for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha with Jhon Duran set to join Al-Nassr.

The Saudi Pro League side will spend £65m on Duran, plus add-ons, which will go down as Villa's second highest sale after Jack Grealish left for Manchester City in the summer of 2021 for £100m. And Villa are planning to replace Duran before Monday's winter window deadline.

Joao Felix is known to be a long-term target for Villa boss Unai Emery, while Mathys Tel is also said to be on the club's radar. It was also revealed earlier in the month that Cunha was of interest to Villa.

In an update, The Guardian claim that Villa are now weighing up a move to sign Cunha as Duran is due to complete his big-money switch to Saudi Arabia. Villa's West Midlands rivals, however, are adamant they will not sell the Brazilian given his importance to the team.

Wolves are also in the middle of a relegation fight and host Villa on Saturday night looking to end their four-match losing run in the Premier League. They will start the weekend in the bottom three after losing at home to Arsenal last time out.

Cunha still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his current deal, but Wolves want to put him on fresh terms. While still confident that the forward will sign the contract, it could be a very interesting ending to the window regarding his future.
