Matheus Cunha sends Arsenal transfer message with eight-word claim Mikel Arteta will love
Wolves star Matheus Cunha sent a clear message to all of his transfer suitors, which now reportedly include Arsenal, during the 2-0 win against Manchester United. The Brazil international has been in superb form this season, with that continuing at Molineux on Boxing Day as he picked up another two goal contributions.
As his side's talisman, Cunha was at the heart of everything good Wolves did and he was involved in the game's opening goal. Just a few minutes after Bruno Fernandes' red card and Jorgen Strand Larsen's disallowed goal, Cunha scored directly from a corner.
Deep into added time, he then unselfishly squared to Hwang Hee-chan when through on goal which allowed the South Korea international to score a second with Cunha's comments on that goal certainly telling of his character as a 'leader of the team'.

"It was my first time [scoring from a corner]," he told Amazon Prime Sport. "We train it a lot. He said to me kick [towards] the goal and we try to manage the goalkeeper. Yes I was shooting. In the first half we did one and he saved but the second one went in and we scored a goal.
"I feel so happy to be here. That's me as a leader of the team and then I give it to Channy [Hwang Hee-chan.] I think it's first goal in the Premier League [this season] and he says every single day 'pass to me please'. So today I'm so happy because I got the chance to pass to him and he scored."
Man United have been linked with Cunha since the arrival of Ruben Amorim and now the Gunners have been credited with an interest. According to the Athletic, Arsenal are long-term admirers of Cunha but he is not a current priority before the January window.
Despite that, performances such as the one he just delivered could see that stance change very quickly with his leadership comment and ability to cause problems from a corner, two things Arteta will undoubtedly love.
