Mathys Tel has made his feelings known about a possible transfer to Chelsea during the January transfer window. The 19-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this month, as Enzo Maresca looks to bolster his frontline.

Earlier this month, Tel emerged as a target for the Blues. football.london understands that Chelsea made contact with the German giants over a potential deal for the France Under-21 international, who's featured just eight times in the Bundesliga this term.

The west Londoners - who have long admired Tel - asked the Bavarians if he would be available to sign, following an initial enquiry last summer. football.london understands Chelsea did not, however, discuss or offer Christopher Nkunku as part of a swap deal - despite Bayern's interest.

Unfortunately for the Blues, they have just been dealt another blow to their hopes of signing Tel. According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the teenager has made it clear to Bayern officials in recent days that he wants to stay at the Allianz Arena.

The report states that the Bavarians are still 'in contact' with Chelsea and Pini Zahavi over a potential deal for Nkunku, but no progress has been made yet. Plettenberg adds that the Blues star has already agreed personal terms with Bayern and, should a move collapse this month, he would remain an option in the summer.

Earlier this week, Max Eberl was quizzed on the club's interest in the Chelsea forward and Tel's future.

In an interview with German outlet SPOX on Thursday, the Bayern 'board member for sport' said: "We're extremely happy with our squad."

Then, on the Blues' target, Eberl revealed that the club plan to help him find his feet once again after a rocky start to the season. He went on: "It's also up to us to give him the time to find his freedom again. Then we have a squad that is sufficiently equipped in terms of quantity and quality. We have no interest in doing anything [in January]."

Meanwhile, Maresca was recently asked whether Nkunku has expressed a desire to leave the club. The Blues boss replied: "No, no. We didn't speak about nothing for Christopher. But the last time I said that [the club will listen if a player tells him they want to leave], it's because in the end, we want all the players, as we said before, to try to be happy; knowing the ones that are not playing, they are not happy. It's normal."

Maresca added: "I think also, in this case, Christopher also wants to play and wants to be happy. He's 27, probably the oldest one. No matter the age, the players want to play and if they do not play, they are not happy."
