Matt Bloomfield heaps praise on Sonny Bradley and Brandon Hanlan after Portsmouth win
Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield has praised the attitude of new signing Sonny Bradley following his goal in the recent 2-0 victory against Portsmouth.
The 33-year-old centre back joined the Chairboys on loan from Derby County on January 6 and made his debut for the club one day later in the 1-0 home loss to Huddersfield Town in which he started.
He kept his place in the starting 11 three days later against his former side Pompey in the third round of the FA Cup, in which he scored Wycombe’s second goal of the contest with a close-range header from a Luke Leahy free-kick.
Bloomfield also heaped positivity on forward Brandon Hanlan, who bagged his second goal of the season in the victory against the 2008 winners of the competition.
Speaking on Bradley, he said: “Sonny is a proper Wycombe player – his heart, fighting spirit and his defending were brilliant.
“As soon as I heard he was available, I knew I wanted to sign him so for him to get a goal was a great bonus.
“He’s been brilliant since coming in.”
On Hanlan, he added: “It has been tough for Brands as he has come back from a long and tough injury and when has played, he’s been fantastic.
“But in recent weeks, we have had Richard Kone and Dan Udoh in good form so he’s had minutes hard to come by recently.
“I promised him before Christmas that he would get a chance in the team, and he took it tonight.”
He concluded by saying he would ‘love’ to face Manchester United away in the next round of the competition, or his boyhood club Ipswich Town and that it was 'exciting' to see the club in the next stage of the FA Cup.
