Matthew Hoppe leaves Middlesbrough after club and striker come to mutual agreement
MATTHEW Hoppe has left Middlesbrough, with the striker's contract terminated by mutual consent.
The 23-year-old is now a free agent after coming to an agreement with Boro. It was felt the decision to part ways benefited all parties.
Hoppe had 18 months to run on his Boro contract, which he signed when he joined the club in the summer of 2022.
After Hoppe's exit was confirmed, boss Michael Carrick said: "It was right for both of us and we wish Matthew all the best.
"In the end it didn't quite work for him. It's just one of those things. We wish him all the very best in the next step of his career."

The striker arrived from Mallorca with a good reputation, having previously impressed during a spell in the Bundesliga with Schalke.
But it didn't work out on Teesside and the 23-year-old never made a first team start for Boro.
The last of his six appearances for Boro came in December, 2022. He spent time on loan at Hibs and San Jose Earthquakes but both clubs opted against making the deal permanent.
He hasn't featured in Michael Carrick's plans for the last two years, and has now left the club.
