Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna says he wants to add further to his squad following the loan signing of Ben Godfrey.

Former Norwich and Everton defender Godfrey, 26, has joined the Blues on loan from Italian club Atalanta.

"We're positive about it and we're happy to have him," said McKenna, speaking after this afternoon's 2-2 draw at Fulham.

"It's an area of the team we wanted to strengthen. Axel Tuanzebe has been a really important player for us at the start of the season but has missed quite a lot of time. Hopefully he's a month away, but he's missed quite a lot of time and we've missed that profile quite a bit in terms of a centre-back who can play right-back, who is strong one-v-one and has good physicality.

"Ben comes in and gives us another profile like that in the squad, he has Premier League experience, is hungry to come here, is a strong character and we're really happy to have him for the second half of the season."

Asked what other business he'd like to do in the January window, the Blues boss said: "It's commonly known that we want to add in the forward areas as well. We've missed Geogre Hirst for probably well over 50% of the games now, so the team has been so heavily reliant on Liam (Delap). We need support in that area.

"We'll try and add goals to the squad if possible, but I'm pretty sure every club in world football has the same wish list in January! Let's see what we can do."
