Medical booked for defender transfer as Unai Emery gets his Aston Villa wish
Aston Villa are set to allow Kosta Nedeljkovic to join Bundesliga side RB Leipzig before the transfer deadline, as the Lions secure the loan move Unai Emery had planned for the young right-back. Nedeljkovic, who only turned 19 last month, was always likely to leave on a loan basis this month in order to secure more regular football and reports in Germany claim a medical is planned for Sunday.
The Serbian defender arrived from Red Star Belgrade in the summer after Villa agreed a deal for Nedeljkovic last January, and he has made a number of substitute appearances in the Premier League and in the Champions League. His only starts, though, have come in the EFL Cup and with Emery having options at right-back, he previously confirmed the plan for a loan.
There was talk that Nedeljkovic might've moved to Saint Etienne in France, but now it appears as though he'll be moving to Germany to link up with Leipzig, who were beaten by Villa on home soil in the Champions League earlier this season. They're currently fourth in the Bundesliga and are aiming for another Champions League qualifying season.

Villa have brought Andres Garcia to the club from Levante this month, and he made his full debut in the defeat to Wolves on Saturday evening. Lamare Bogarde and Ezri Konsa have also played at right-back this term, whenever Matty Cash has been sidelined through injury - as is the case at this moment.
Nedeljkovic will join teammate Emiliano Buendia in Germany - he joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan after signing a new Villa deal - while the likes of Louie Barry, Tommi O'Reilly and Lewis Dobbin have swapped loan clubs in this window. Samuel Iling-Junior is set to do likewise, changing from Bologna to Middlesbrough.
