Messi, Inter Miami continue preseason Saturday against Olimpia in Honduras, how to watch
Lionel Messi is back in action on Saturday night as Inter Miami makes a stop in Honduras for its preseason tour.
Inter Miami will face Honduran giants Club Olimpia Deportivo, but how much will Messi play in Honduras?
Here’s what Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano must consider as the club continues to ramp up before the 2025 MLS season: Saturday’s game is the first of five matches Inter Miami will play in the next three weeks, with the next four matches separated by four days or less.
While Messi has played well in Inter Miami’s first three preseason matches, his playing time will be monitored to ensure he’s healthy as the club begins the MLS season and will begin the Concacaf Champions Cup tournament later this month.
“Nobody knows their body better than Leo. We will manage his minutes based on how he feels,” Mascherano said of Messi earlier this week.
How to watch Inter Miami vs. Olimpia live stream?
The match begins at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. Honduras, 9 p.m. in Argentina). It will be played at Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Here’s how you can watch it:

Inter Miami wants to monitor Messi’s playing time
Messi scored a header and played 66 minutes in the preseason opener against Mexican champions Club America in Las Vegas on Jan. 18. He played 72 minutes against Universitario in Peru on Jan. 29. He was the catalyst behind two goals in 76 minutes against San Miguelito in Panama City last Sunday.
“He has been playing more minutes each game, and has finished the three games well,” Mascherano said of Messi.
Mascherano added “we must pay attention” to Messi’s playing time due to the upcoming schedule.
Inter Miami’s last preseason game is Feb. 14 against MLS rival Orlando City at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
Inter Miami will play the first leg of its Concacaf Champions Cup first-round matchup on the road against Sporting Kansas City on Feb. 18.
Inter Miami will play it MLS season opener at home against New York City FC on Feb. 22.
And the second leg of Inter Miami’s Concacaf Champions Cup first round matchup on Feb. 25.
“We know he feels good on the field, it is where he wants to be,” Mascherano said of Messi. “So, we will do everything we can to let him play without taking any risks.”
