Micah Hamilton opens up on difficult Middlesbrough spell as he aims to find himself at Stockport

Micah Hamilton says he hopes to use his loan at Stockport County to find himself and regain his confidence after a tough first six months at Boro.

Hamilton has struggled to make an impact on Teesside since his move from Manchester City in the summer. Admitting it hasn't been an easy period, he’s hoping he can learn from the experience to have a positive spell at Edgeley Park.

Boro have always stressed the importance of patience in the 21-year-old this season, with such limited senior experience at Man City. They’re hoping the loan move can help him develop before returning to the Riverside next season in a better place to challenge for more regular game-time.

Speaking in his first club interview, Hamilton said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be here and get going. It’s not been the easiest six months for me, but I've learned so much over that period that I can take into the next six months and hopefully help the team.

“It nearly happened last week. I was on my way down then had to go back to Middlesbrough for some reasons. I’m just happy to get it sorted in the end and delighted to be here.

“It’s going to be an important move for me. I just want to be out there again, getting my confidence back, and just showing everyone myself and what I can do. Hopefully I can affect games with goals and assists.

“Individually, I’m here to find myself again. I just want to get playing games regularly and hopefully get back to being that joy-to-watch player. Hopefully that also helps get the team where they want to be this season. I’m eager to go.”
