Michael Conlan secures new promotional deal ahead of March return

Michael Conlan has penned a promotional deal with Wasserman Boxing. The Belfast boxer is preparing for his eagerly anticipated ring return in March.

Conlan hasn't fought since suffering a seventh-round knockout defeat to Jordan Gill at the SSE Arena in December 2023. It was his second successive loss after being stopped by Luis Alberto Lopez earlier that year.

The 33-year-old featherweight could return on the same card as fellow Belfast man Tyrone McKenna in Brighton on March 7. McKenna takes on Conlan's friend Harlem Eubank in his latest bout.

Wasserman brothers Kalle and Nisse will attempt to guide Conlan to that coveted World title. The Belfast man has come up short on two previous occasions, against Leigh Wood and Lopez respectively.

Kalle Sauerland described Conlan as a "true icon of Irish boxing".

He said: "We are honoured he has decided to join us at Wasserman Boxing. He wants to cement his legacy by capturing the world title, and his determination to achieve that is infectious.

"Nisse and I cannot wait to set out on this journey with Michael because it promises to be extra special."

Conlan recently told Belfast Live he was plotting a "busy 2025", with the "ultimate goal" of winning a world title.

He said: "Hopefully I will be fighting for a world title at the end of this year or at the start of the next. That is the ultimate goal."
