Huddersfield Town head coach Michael Duff has described Cambridge United’s attacking players as “definitely a threat” ahead of tomorrow's encounter between the sides.

The Terriers make the trip to the Abbey Stadium to take on the U’s on Friday evening in a 7.45pm kick-off. Town sit fourth in the League One table, on 36 points from 19 matches played, while United are third from bottom in the division, on 17 points after 19 games.

Tonight’s hosts head into the contest off the back of registering a 2-2 draw at Wrexham last time out, making them and Town the only two teams to take a point from the Racecourse Ground so far this term.

Duff believes that United’s frontline could pose Town some challenges, with the hosts having Elias Kachunga in their ranks, who was the Terriers’ top scorer in their promotion-winning campaign of 2016/17.

Reflecting on Cambridge's last encounter, Duff said: “A fully deserved point, it wasn’t a smash and grab by any means, you look at the stats and the goals they scored.

“I think we’re the only two teams that have taken points off Wrexham (at home), so it’s no mean feat. It wasn’t Wrexham camped in their box for 85 per cent of the game and just getting absolutely peppered, it wasn’t the case at all, they were good value for it.

“They’ve obviously got a really experienced manager (Garry Monk), worked at a lot higher level than this. The front three are definitely a threat. I had Dan Nlundulu at Cheltenham when he was at Southampton, who’s played in the Premier League as a young lad. Shayne Lavery I tried to sign when I was at Barnsley, and obviously everyone knows Kachunga from his time here, so they’re a definite threat.

“We’ll go there as we always do, prep properly, and we can’t turn up for 45 minutes like we did in the first half on Saturday, because we’ll get beat.”

Town head into the contest off the back of a 2-2 draw themselves, with the Terriers battling back from two goals down at the break to earn a point against Lincoln City on Saturday. The comeback leaves Town unbeaten in 10 matches in League One, and while disappointed with his side’s first-half showing against the Imps, Duff felt there were plenty of positives to take from the second-half improvement.

“We can’t have a 45 minutes like that in this league, but I also learned that they’re showing a lot more resilience,” the head coach said.

“I think there’s a relationship between the supporters and the players, which is growing. That’s definitely the noisiest it’s been since I’ve been here, and the only frustration is that we didn’t actually go on to win the game. I keep saying we haven’t got a 93rd, 94th-minute goal, whether it’s an equaliser or a winner yet, that’s probably the next part.

“I thought the resilience, the attitude, particularly in the second half, just to do simple things really, just to play a little bit quicker was good, so they’re taking information.

“People coming off the bench and affecting the game positively, so it’s another game unbeaten. I think it’s 24 points from ten games, and we’ve protected that unbeaten run, so as frustrating as it was, there’s lots of positive markers.”
