Arsenal supporters must be exasperated whenever they see Michael Oliver as the official for one of their matches. The referee has shown more red cards to Arsenal than any other club in the Premier League.

Oliver has shown three straight red cards to Arsenal players during his refereeing career, with four more shown for second yellow cards. Everton are the next worst with six red cards received from Oliver.

Oliver has also brandished 108 yellow cards in the direction of Arsenal players - seven more than Everton have received and eight more than Liverpool.

The Northumberland referee has officiated three Gunners games this season - the 2-0 win over Aston Villa and the draws with Manchester City and Chelsea. And it is that Man City clash that will live long in the memory for Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal fans for all the wrong reasons.

Arsenal looked to be heading for a well-deserved point, leading 2-1 deep into injury-time, until John Stones popped up with a last-gasp equaliser. But that does not tell the whole story.

Arsenal had to play the entirety of the second half with ten men after Leandro Trossard was sent off for a second bookable offence for kicking the ball away.

It was the second time the Gunners would befall such a problem, having seen Declan Rice sent off for the first time in his career, also for kicking the ball away, a few weeks prior against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Cards for kicking the ball away have dried up somewhat in recent weeks and months, as the controversy and headlines made from those red cards died down. But Arsenal supporters are not ones to forgive and forget.

And there were plenty who were angry on Sunday after the clash between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield. There were 35 minutes on the clock when Manuel Ugarte was penalised for a foul on Luis Diaz in the middle of the park.

With Virgil van Dijk trotting forward to take a free-kick, Untied striker Rasmus Hojlund clearly poked the ball away from the onrushing Liverpool man, much to van Dijk's chagrin, with the Liverpool skipper outstretching his arms to the referee - Oliver.

Hojlund had not been booked at the time, so would not have been sent off, but a yellow card was not shown to the United striker, despite clearly stopping a quick free-kick from being taken.

Arteta said after the Trossard red card: "I'm expecting 100 Premier League games this season to play 10 against 11 or 10 against 10 or nine against 10. Let's see."

The Arsenal boss no doubt did see and was probably as unhappy as the Gunners fans with the decision Oliver gave on the pitch.
