Michael Schumacher's wife's rare statement, son's heartbreaking comment, wedding rumours
Time continues to tick almost 11 years after Formula One icon Michael Schumacher sustained life-changing injuries while skiing.
The seven-time F1 world champion suffered a traumatic brain injury in December 2013 during a skiing trip when he veered slightly off-piste leading to his fall where he hit his head on a rock. He was immediately rushed to hospital where he is placed in a medically induced coma.
Since his accident, he's yet to be seen in public as he remains under the watchful eye of his wife Corinna at their family home in Lake Geneva. Corinna - who wed Schumacher in 1995 - is understood to be extremely selective about whom she allows to visit with only a handful of individuals allowed to see the racing icon.

As we approach the 11th anniversary of his devastating injury, Record Sport takes a look at recent comments by Schumacher's immediate family and reports that he'd recently been seen in public for the first time in over a decade.
Corinna Schumacher's rare statement
Staunchly protective of her husband's privacy, and their family in general, Corinna Schumacher hasn't been one for public statements in recent times.
However, the former equestrian made an exception during the 2021 Netflix documentary named after the driver, when she explained why information about Schumacher's health has been kept private.
"'Private is private', as he always said. It’s very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible," Corinna explained. "Michael always protected us and now we are protecting Michael."
She discussed what the family do in order to aid his comfortability as she added: "We’re together. We live together at home. We do therapy. We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he’s comfortable. And to simply make him feel our family, our bond."
Mick Schumacher's heartbreaking comment
The iconic racing star had a significant impact on his son Mick who ended up following in his footsteps, as he raced for Haas for two years before becoming a reserve driver for Mercedes. The 25-year-old now competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Alpine.
Having only been 14 years old at the time of his father's accident, Mick painfully confessed to author Matt Whyman, in his book 'Inside Mercedes F1', that he had to find his own footing in the racing world.
"Whenever he felt like I was not taking it seriously, he would say, 'Mick, would you rather go and play football with your friends? If so, we do not need to do all of this'. I insisted that I wanted to race and he said, 'Okay, then let's do it properly'. So we started doing more European karting and I was getting better.
"Then my dad had his accident," Mick said. "I started racing in the Formula classes the year after and from that point onwards, I had to find my own feet."
Appearance rumours at daughter's wedding
Reports from Germany noted that Schumacher made a rare appearance at the wedding of his daughter Gina-Marie and her husband Iain Bethke in September. It suggested that in order to ensure his privacy, guests were required to leave their mobile phones at the door in order to avoid photographs.
In what would have been his first public appearance in 11 years, the reports were rubbished by the German's former Benetton team-mate Johnny Herbert who called it "fake news". The Brit said: "It will always be a closed shop," he told Flashscore.
"The most recent rumour was he attended his daughter’s wedding. Unfortunately, from what I understand that was all A1 fake news and no truth in it."
