Michael van Gerwen suffering from broken toe as he aims to boot Luke Littler out of Dutch Darts Masters
Michael Van Gerwen wants to give Luke Littler the boot despite a broken toe.
The Green Machine is determined to banish his World title defeat to The Nuke on home soil tonight in Den Bosch. But Van Gerwen is adamant it’s not about revenge when the pair meet in the last eight of the Dutch Darts Masters. The home ace will have an unfortunate injury to contend with having done the damage during a family break in Thailand. Van Gerwen explained: “That’s annoying, but you can’t do anything about it. It happened last week on holiday. Accidents can happen. I enjoyed my holiday. I definitely had a nice rest.”
Van Gerwen didn’t suffer any ill effects as he thrashed Dirk van Duijvenbode to set-up the Littler showdown with his comptriot the one in pain after a 6-1 thumping. The three-times World champ said: “Dirk may have thought that the Dutch crowd would support him. But he doesn’t have that against one person. That’s me. Too bad for him.”

Littler is now in sight as Van Gerwen looks to bury the Ally Pally memory. He said: “It’s really bitter, but it wouldn’t be fair to myself if I didn’t look at it positively. I put together a really great tournament and played fantastically.
“It’s bitter that I didn’t reward myself, but I can get a lot of satisfaction out of it now. Isn’t that great? Be honest, that’s the best poster the public can get, isn’t it? This match is great for the tournament.”
Littler stated that revenge would be on the mind of MVG, but the Dutchman responded: “No, not at all. That was a shame, but I’ve left that behind me a long time ago.”
