Michael van Gerwen's huge net worth, glamorous wife and text scandal months after wedding
Michael van Gerwen could seal his fourth darts world title if he defeats Luke Littler in tonight's PDC World Darts Championship final.
The Dutchman is one of the greatest to ever play the game, having previously reigned as world No.1 for an incredible seven years. Now ranked third in the world, he is the second most successful player in PDC history, behind Phil Taylor, having won 157 PDC titles over the course of his career.
Amongst the numerous records he holds, van Gerwen is still the youngest winner of a World Championship, having claimed the title at the age of 24 back in 2014. He will be determined to keep that record tonight, but is up against 17-year-old Littler, who is the favourite to lift the Sid Waddell trophy.

The Alexandra Palace crowd are sure to back the English teenager, but van Gerwen is also a popular figure amongst dart fans, having achieved so much in the sport. Here are some things you might not know about the 35-year-old's life away from the oche.
Huge net worth
As one of the most successful darts players of all time, van Gerwen is believed to have an estimated net worth of around £7 million.
While he has struggled for form in recent years, his long period of dominance at the top of the game has seen him bank earnings of nearly £10 million over the course of his career.
Of course, he could add £500,000 to that already staggering total with victory over Littler tonight. By making it to the final, he has already guaranteed that he will take home at least £200,000.
van Gerwen has also added to his huge net worth through some lucrative endorsements both in the UK and in the Netherlands, having signed deals with the likes of Leyland Trade, dartshop.tv, Keuken Concurrent, Van Mossel Automotive and XQ Darts Max.
Glamorous wife and text scandal
The Dutchman has been married to his wife Daphne since 2014, six years after they started dating.
A former hairdresser, Daphne met her husband in their native Netherlands and is frequently seen supporting him from the sidelines at tournaments around the world. She also shares photos of her family's glamorous holidays around the world on her Instagram page, where she has nearly 30,000 followers.
Together, van Gerwen and his wife have two children together - Zoe, born in 2017, and Mike, born in 2020. The two siblings made an appearance at the World Series of Darts Finals in 2023, when they ran on stage to congratulate their dad following his win over Dimitiri van den Bergh.
However, the darts star's relationship with Daphne hit a rocky patch just months after their wedding, when it was reported by The Sun that he had sent 'sleazy' text messages to a woman from Bradford.
The report alleged that he had invited 24-year-old Stacy Owen to his hotel room, but in a grovelling public apology for his actions, he denied that there was "any physical relationship" between them.
"I deeply regret my decision to exchange messages with Stacey Owen and my decision to meet her whilst I was already in the UK to play in the Premier League," van Gerwen wrote in a statement on Twitter.
"I wish to make clear that there has never been any physical relationship between Ms Owen and myself.
"My primary concern is for my family and my wife Daphne, who I apologise to unreservedly. My hope is that people will now allow me to move forward and focus on my performances on the oche."
X-rated comment on live TV
Van Gerwen sealed his place in this year's World Championship final by cruising to a 6-1 victory over Chris Dobey in the semi-final on Thursday.
But while he was delighted to make it through to face Littler, the Dutchman didn't want to get carried away and expressed that point a little too frankly in his post-match interview with Sky Sports.
Asked where a world title this year would rank among his three others, he responded: "That's something to worry about tomorrow. I don't care. I've won f*** all yet!"
While it went down a storm with viewers, the X-rated comment prompted presenter Abigail Davies to issue an immediate apology, as she chimed in to say: "We are going to have to apologise for that language."
