MIDDLESBROUGH have agreed a deal with Plymouth for Morgan Whittaker.

After having a bid accepted by Argyle, Whittaker is understood to have taken his medical on Friday.

It's another major boost for Boro on the back of this week's confirmation that Ben Doak's Liverpool recall cut-off has passed and the arrival of Ryan Giles on Thursday. George Edmundson is also set to sign and is undergoing his medical today.

Burnley were also interested in Morgan Whittaker but had an offer turned down earlier in the window.

Plymouth reluctantly accepted the need to allow Whittaker to move on this month as they look to rebuild their squad.

He was absent for the midweek defeat to Burnley, after which it became clear he was likely to move on.

And Boro have now made major progress, with a medical taking place today.

Whittaker's former club Swansea are due a percentage of the fee. The 24-year-old has starred for Argyle since joining in 2023. He's a former teammate of Boro's Finn Azaz at Home Park.

Boro's move for Whittaker is unrelated to Emmanuel Latte Lath's situation. The Plymouth forward is instead seen as a replacement for Isaiah Jones, who left for Luton earlier in the window.
